I've been thinking about this for a bit now, and I'm not convinced that we really need to lock down any portion of The Nexus to new members. As it states on the "Attitude" page of this site; "It’s easy to be humble: There are many professional chemists and scientists here; and there are also many who have travelled extensively in the world of spice."
I really think that this fact alone is what helps to keep the Nexus grounded and a tight community. If new members are getting out of hand and abusing the freedom of the Nexus, I think they will quickly be corrected by the mods or other members. As beautiful as the Nexus is, it's not a pleasant place to be an asshole or a jackass.
I think our standard policy of ignoring the obvious morons is the best way to eliminate these types of people. If they don't get a reaction then they tend to simply just fade away. Additionally, many a "Quick Fixer" is just a psychonaught that hasn't got "the message" yet.
That's my two cents. Thoughts?
