Newbie Tek, already tried Chris Cantelmo's "no vinegar" extraction. Worked, but crystals melted.

I'm relatively new to extracting DMT on my own. I've already tried doing it once, and although I did get crystals in my dish, they melted after putting the dish in front of a fan to dry off the rest of the Naphtha. I live in GA which is by nature a humid place. May someone please offer me guidance? [Mod edit: avoid mentions of buying!] I'm eager to get this to work. I'm not currently in the states, but if theres any questions you have for me regarding my equipment at home, I can provide more when I get back home on July 4th. Thank you all!

Some of it may have been ice. Were you left with an appreciable amount of goo?

There may also be a problem if the local concentration of carbon dioxide is high, which can make any condensation or meltwater acidic enough to dissolve the DMT, assume you were able to isolate some.

In that respect, it would be useful - for both yourself and us here - if you were able to describe exactly what you did, in your own words, with maximum detail. There may have been some other factor affecting your yield, so everything you can tell us about your method will have a chance of helping to get to the bottom of this.

That said, hot humidity is likely to be at the root of some of your difficulties.

I’m moreso interested in what other easy Tek’s there are for extraction since I didn’t have much luck with this one and it took an incredibly long time.

try Normans STB sesigned foe webbies ...using 50 gram bark batchs To learn . follow it to the "T" no adding extra steps ,
smaller batchs are also more eficent ,
don't throw any thing away if it goes wrong , you can ask for help on do over

Apologies on the delayed responses, not currently in the states. I’ll be back July 4th

Below you will find the steps I took, and photos I had sitting in my photo gallery on my phone.

1. 100g MHRBP combine with roughly 2 cups of water into crockpot
2. Cover with lid and put to deep freeze completely
3. After frozen, put to simmer on low for 8 hours
4. After 8hrs, let cool completely, then back into the deep freezer
5. Leave overnight to freeze
6. After frozen, take out and let thaw completely
7. Put back on low again for another 8 hrs
8. Let cool completely then transfer to Mason Jar or beaker using cheese cloth to separate solid material
9. Slowly add Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) until PH is 12+ (~80g sodium per liter of liquid)
10. If in beaker, transfer to Mason Jar and add Naphtha to separate DMT, rotate the Mason Jar smoothly to agitate the mixture.
11. Wait about 3-4 hours
12. Turkey baster to separate Naphtha into crystallization dish
13. Cover with aluminum foil, then plastic wrap, then tightly seal it with a rubber band
14. Allow the dish to freeze overnight
15. Pour off Naphtha into separate Mason Jar for reuse
16. Paper towel down, tilt the dish to dry off rest of Naphtha (I chose to use a fan to blow air to be extra sure)

Total extraction time ~25-30 hrs

In the photos you can clearly see crystals have formed, but when I left the dish to dry all the crystals melted.

Sounds like you did alright, but could easily have done a few more agitations of the naphtha with the base soup. It's the phase-phase contact surface where the transfer of DMT from the aqueous to th¸non-polar layer, so carefully maximising that helps your pulls to be more efficient.

Speaking of which, how many pulls did you do?

With the picture of the crystallisation dish, it's rather hard to tell what's what, but it does look as though there's a lot of ice in there rather than the more usual crystalline structures of DMT. You might need a container with a lid that seals properly.

One trick to prevent condensation after draining off the cold naphtha is by returning the container to the freezer, with its lid firmly reattached, slanted upside-down for more of the naphtha to drain off. Let the dripped-off naphtha out, then put the again-sealed container somewhere to warm up to room temperature before performing the final fanning-off of naphtha vapours.

If you can air condition and dehumidify the space where all this is carried out that would help a lot, but of course you'd need to remain wary of flammable naphtha fumes around any electrical equipment. It should be OK to funnel ice-cold naphtha into a bottle that can be sealed promptly, however.

I don’t really think i want to do this Tek again since it’s so time consuming and I just don’t have the time in my day to day to babysit it.

I’ll likely try a different STB Tek. What am I looking for in terms of DMT crystals? I was pretty convinced that I had a decent dish but I guess it was mostly ice now that you mention it
