Nexus frontpage graphic collaboration project

Migrated topic.
I hope this is the final version. Half the fairy dust, darker fade behind the shape, brighter background when you get further from the shape. Blurred the background immediately behind the shape as well. Anyway, here it is.

Oh I think your done G...it looks amazing...that touch of blur makes it leap out of the screen like a 3D TV...especially on a big monitor..
No tweak necessary IMO. :d

I think it's in Tokapelli's hands at this point... Toka, how's it going?

Daedaloops- I've loaded this up on the FTP server.
(I once asked a friend if he used FTP, and he replied, "Never heard of it... What are its effects and how long till you come down?")

Cyb and I have been collabing on an all-metal industrial version of this shape, which I hope to have posted soon. It's not as appropriate for Fun, and actually is meant for other things, but it's looking pretty durn sweet.

Ha. I didn't realize FTP was that out of vogue. Then again, I don't think the public really ever picked up on it.

Final version looks awesome. Can't wait to see all of these together.

Gorgeous, MelCat. It's obvious that you really put in the hours.

Speaking of that retro thing- do a google image search for Victor Varsarely. (I'd attach a link except that the google thumbnail page provides a far more impressive array than any one link). Varsarely was one of my influences as a youngster.

Bear in mind that his works are all actual paintings, even though they appear digital.

Thanks for the reference to Victor Varsarely, Guy. I had never heard of him before.

Those are all paintings?? That's some pretty hardcore talent. One of these days I'll learn how to paint.

still alive here, its kinda hard for me to post pics but hopefull ill be able to get some progess pics posted soon

I really like how that came out melcat, i like the extra glow on the chains, and it has a cleaner look now somehow.

OK it has taken a while before I could even touch this thing again, but here it is. I'd say this is round about done, what do you guys think? I can upload a bigger or smaller image if it is needed. And if anyone has any skill and wants to digitally smooth out the original, feel free! The original file is about 3500 pix wide.

Excellent work from everyone across the board. I assume there is not that much left to do now ?

Orion, that's gorgeous. I can't see any need for additional smoothing out. It has a look that bridges the gap between hand painted and digital. The color really woke it up.

Very original too...

Just Lovely Orion...
Take your final picture on maximum settings...If you get any problems with lighting/shadows intruding I can jazz it up in Pshop (extra vibrance/sharpening/colour correction etc) under your direction.

Still can't get over the fact that that's 21 feet across..Wow

21 foot wide ? Nawww it's only 23 and 1/2 inch, about 60cm. The thread keeps saying it has 21 pages when it doesn't, must be today's spooky number. I've barely touched the painting in gimp just to get the color a little more accurate. Here is the full size canvas : http://custard-surfer.deviantart.com/#/d5lhkx8.

It's around 21'x23'. It's not really advisable to work acrylic over oil (which is a bummer for a lot of reasons).

^^^From a few pages back...

I thought that was a huuuge canvas...and it was taking you ages up all those step ladders...
