No effects from Ayahuasca

Hey guys,

Three ayahuasca ceremonies so far in Peru. Two in Pisac and one in Iquitos. Unfortunately no effects felt so far. Certainly wasn't the amount ingested or brew since everyone else had crazy visions from one cup (i had 4 the first time, 2 the second and 3 the third, all legit spaces). I seemed to purge much later than everyone else also.

The third time the shaman performed all sorts of stuff on me to try to assist the break through but no luck.

Not sure if it's linked but I haven't visually tripped on mushrooms the last 4-5 times I've had them. Used to trip all the time. LSD still seems to work.

I've been recommended to smoke DMT by a guy here who is studying under a shaman.

Thinking about hanging around for one more ceremony but I'm not so willing to part with more money for nothing.

Does anyone have any idea why I can't break through. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert, but it might be that whichever inhibitors that have been in your brews aren't potent enough or in great enough volume to fully inhibit your MAO. I've heard that mushrooms are highly potentiated with MAOIs in the form of psilohuasca, so it might not be impossible that too much MAO could nullify a mushroom trip.

I have no idea what condition could necessitate going to a doctor and asking to have your MAO levels tested, but that might be an option for figuring out what the problem is.

Such weird timing. I'm listening to this podcast with Dennis McKenna: chrisryanphd.com - Dennis McKenna and right when I open this thread, they're talking about this very exact thing. At about the 1:15:00 mark Dennis is talking about how it took him several times of taking ayahuasca for it to really kick in. They're saying that most any drug has a "learned" aspect to getting properly high from it.

As other have said, could be number of things. You should try smoking it, with proper vaping technique, it should work.

I read a report here and it was through the shamen percy that was on bruce parry. Id heard about this shamen before on aya forums and he sounded great. I was decided on going to peru to meet him etc. Then he showed up on the bruce parry show couldnt believe it was the one id heard of and everyone had great experiences on the show and forum.

But the report I read here a few years later with percy, the guy who wrote it here, didnt get a trip after 4 times or so of trying and its costing. His friends got a decent one others had major trips Im sure.

It really put me off the whole going to peru thing as sometimes I can be a hardhead and that stuff would be mega disheartening when I dont get an actual expierience and im paying a lot for it. Think how many plants n herbs you could buy at home? It happens sometimes!

The smoking dmt could open things up as its usually a guarantee if its smoked correctly and after dmt my mushroom trips were stronger! I wouldnt go wasting money chasing a trip, buy some cactus or something sure you can there? then get back to it without spending ridiculous amounts at home.

So DMT was the most terrifying and amazing experience I've ever had

The shaman guaranteed that I would now he able to break into the aya realm. He has dealt with hard heads like mine before.

Trying mushrooms here tomorrow which will be an interesting test if I've cleared my blockages.
