No one is ever speaking in the chatroom

Hi,

every time I join the chat, it lists all the people on the right hand side who are in the chat room with me.
And every time I speak in the chat room, I am the only one doing the talking.
Why does no one say anything in the chat room?
Am I just being given the silent treatment collectively by everyone in the chat room, every time I am in the chat room?
If someone could tell me what is going on that would be great, thanks.

It's because you are limited to the Welcome Room right now. The full members check that room, but rather inconsistently. Often there are others in the Welcome Room. Just say hello and ask any questions you have and then be patient. Someone will be there to chat with you soon. Welcome to the Nexus!

Welcome Area chat is usually pretty quiet.

You generally have hang out for a while and wait for someone to notice that there is a new post in there but eventually someone will reply. Don't give up after a few minutes. Hanging out in chat is an excellent way for people get to know you and that helps expedite votes for promotion.
