No yield.... :(

Hello everyone, so after going through the whole process of doing an A/B extraction (mostly derived from Vovin's Tek with slight adjustments), there have been major issues in obtaining any yield at all after freeze precipitation and solvent evaporating. During basification, roughly 250g of lye was used on 500g of bark. The pH meter was checked and the solution was well within the required range so I don't see that as being the issue here. There was roughly 2000 mL of liquid to deal with after the basification step so it was split up into 4 smaller volumes to be dealt with during extraction. 5 extractions were performed on each individual smaller volume of liquid and then the naphtha was combined at the end. After performing a freeze precipitation on the naphtha, nothing was obtained after about 18-20 hours in the freezer. It was assumed that maybe there was too much solvent and the dmt could not precipitate out so the final volume of solvent was cut down to roughly 450 mL. After spending another 14 hours in the freezer, there is nothing even remotely noticeable in terms of dmt in the solvent. The solvent is pale yellow after evaporation and was noticeably cloudy before hand and honestly I am just at a loss for what could possibly be wrong here. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Those aren't slight adjustments.

Did you use an acid? You didn't indicate you did. If you used lye then there was virtually no product in the water that you extracted from.

If you had 2liters of liquid after an extraction, you didn't reduce enough.

And finally 500gram batch extractions are inefficient and at the nexus it is promoted and encouraged to do smaller more efficient extractions.

What kind of bark are you extracting from? Mimosa? Acacia? Phalaris grass etc etc? If anything other than mimosa, a mini a/b is usually necessary as any impurities (NMT, plant fats, and oils) can prevent DMT from crystallizing properly.

It is a bit unclear from your post because you say you were doing Vovin's (which is an a/b) but didn't mention any acid step. This is okay if you went straight-to-base instead by adding your lye solution directly to your bark. If you went straight to base or did an (implied) acid step you should be good.

At this point 450ml is still too much solvent, especially if it isn't very saturated (bunk bark, perhaps?). You may need to reduce the solvent even more and leave it be for 24-48hrs. If procedures are correct and bark is of decent quality, you should get SOMETHING out of it.
