Nutmeg OIL

Migrated topic.

Heard through the grapevine that nutmeg oil contains a psychoactive "more or less" on par with LSD (and to avoid the powdered nuts altogether—no need to warn me).

Needless to say, I am intrigued. A quick search on Amazon brings up quite a few listings for pure nutmeg oil, which is exciting. I'm just wondering if these Amazon brands contain the psychoactive component or if it is somehow destroyed during manufacturing with heat treatment or something.

Anyone know anything about it?

nah

All sorts of stuff will bring you to an altered state of mind. Tons of herbs indeed.

If there is a reason why nutmeg (or nutmeg oil or whatever oil combination) or many ther herbs are not widely used it is because:

1) the high they produce sucks
2) the high is upredictable
3) safety margins are too tight
4) a combination of 1,2,3

Just bring the datura high on your mind as a toungue-in-cheek example

You are more than welcome to experiment, safety first of course. There are relevant posts in the Nexus around circa 2010.

But on par to LSD?
nah

"Datura" and "safety first" got me thinking.

If I recall correctly, one major difference of Datura and other nightshades vs. most tryptamines and phenethylamines is that there is no tolerance to nightshade effects - on the contrary, effects are cumulative, so if you had a 'nice' datura trip yesterday, you only need very little to get that full effect again today.

I don't know if it's the same with nutmeg / myristicin, but unless you know otherwise, please consider the possibility.

Please read this post.

Not to mention, ALL OF THIS.

Some people like the nutmeg high and some hate it. Many have overdosed. It's nothing like acid. More like a strong pot type kinda high. I actually liked it myself as a kid but only did it twice because...

Disadvantages:
Takes forever to come on and lasts forever. Set aside a few days or a week.
Inconsistent potency, which when added to taking like 8 hours to come on is kinda dangerous for dosing.
Has horrible, horrible hangover. Bad joint and body aches, feels like the flu.

There's a reason that it's used by kids and prisoners.

I was trying to figure out how they are related to each other to write an userscript for that purpose, but found nothing obvious.
Yeah, it's unfortunate that the new URLs don't index the old ones in any obvious way. The only idea I could come up with was to prepare a spreadsheet listing one-to-one correspondences from the old to the new, then using that as a lookup table for find-and-replace in conjunction with a scraper script that pulls out all the posts with URLs from the old forum.

It would then have to write all the results to a new file, or at least a new set of columns. A few of the results would need manual review, and the whole process sounds like it would end up being a partial data migration. That makes me nervous 😬

I'm not a database systems engineer in any way, shape or form, so this could all be bullshit!

All of those reasons are why I've advised, ever since coming across the idea, that a tincture [from the whole nuts] makes for a smoother, more controllable experience. Another very important thing is to remember to drink plenty of water during the nutmeg experience - that does an enormous amount in taking the edge off the worst aspects of the comedown. There are still unavoidable psychoemotional disturbances, especially after a higher dose.

As an enhancer of other, proper psychedelics, however, nutmeg is truly superb. "The dose makes the poison". Get wise, kids.

I think it's very likely that the relationship is already mapped somewhere. Think that at some point every thread in the old forum was migrated to the new one, so there has to be either a database migration, a script, or something else that either contains the mapping itself or how to reproduce it. Trav will know for sure. The only problem is that it likely requires access to the database, and that's a no-go. But if he extracts either the mapping or the logic that does the mapping, I could write a userscript for that purpose.
