obtusifolia splitting?

heya, i'm not gonna get violent but one of the obtusifolias in my garden split in two during strong winds.. it's been a couple months since it split and I haven't noticed any of the plant dying off..

My question is.. should I tie up/brace the tree somehow or just let it do its thing? I know acacias are tough but a trunk splitting down the middle makes me want to intervene..

The plant is 5+ years old and over 6 meters tall..

Not sure what the best course of action is with the splitting. I guess it might depend on how likely it is that the next gust of wind further damages the tree. Is it about to split further down the trunk.
If it's very stable, I would leave it.
I'm no expert on plant injuries though.

How sure are you that that's obtusifolia?
I've never seen an obtusifolia with phyllodes like that. I've looked at quite a few.
Are you sure you don't have a different species, such as longifolia?
 
I would use a small ratcheting strap and try to keep it joined at the top. the slit should heal. A tree guy might have a prettier or more perm. option but, to keep it from splitting more I'd strap it.

Oh woops I uploaded a picture of an acuminata i have growing by accident, it is definitely obtusifolia.

Yeah alright thanks, ill chuck a ratchet strap around it to stop any gusts of wind splitting the rest.
