Ok, experiment was successful. Hopefully the implications are profound

Ok, so I dumped out that last pipets worth of from a STB extract that you just can’t get without the black sucking up. Of course, there was a little black. I had a hunch that it would freeze. It was maybe 50/50, and sludge did it in fact freeze. The naptha poured out without a drop of goo. Now I know some spice may drop out of solution, but really, I wonder how much. Will find out.

PS: it frroze FAST. Like an hour.

I think next time I’ll do a pour off of a full 50ml extraction, carefully keeping the goo to a minimum, then pipette the dark layer UNDER the naptha as much as possible without wasting the clear or yellow naptha. Only leave a tiny amount that would not absorb any crystals falling out of solution or anything. Pop in the freezer (an hour wasn’t long enough to see spice crystals), and dump it as soon as the black layer doesn’t move with the naptha.

I feel like there’s a huge chance this will work, and will take the pours and pipettes out of the process. It’ll also give you that last little layer you can never get. The less goo the less loss.
