Orange DMT - Shaggy's Jungle Tek

Hello, I have been reading various teks in the Wiki, and I think Shaggy's Jungle Tek will produce what I think I am looking for, the orange full range spice.

I have also found his "updated" tek

Any advice on how to scale this down so someone can practice it before committing a half KG of their material on their first try?

If anyone has used this extraction, I would love some further clarification on things, like when adding the toluene to the wine jug, it mentions topping it off with warm distilled water to the start of the neck of the bottle, about how much toluene will be used here? I really wish there was some pictures as I learn much better with a visual aid!

In the updated tek there is an acetone wash, would anyone recommend this tek or the original?

Ive also been doing some cruising in the forum and recall someone here named IceHouse saying they run their Toluene/Xylene into the evap dish through a 30CC syringe filled with cotton balls to catch any impurities.

I am new to this and I am excited to try this Tek because I preferred full-range orange spice as opposed to white fluffy spice extracted from a Naptha freeze-precipitation.

I appreciate your help! If anyone could help me break this down into a smaller version, maybe 100g of bark at a time that would be great! As well as things to look out for, their experiences, anything you might do different, what sorts of equipment is used, etc. I would a appreciate a breakdown!

I would also like to know why the updated tek makes no mention of required PH or checking for it where the original does?

Hi i havent used this tek before but if you like pictures, look up cybs tek, its in pdf format.It uses a naphtha freeze precipitation but i was thinking maybe you could change the last freeze precip stage for your preferred toluene evap. and maybe with first acidifying stage leave it longer (i hope someone will chime in if i am wrong).
I saw on one of your previous posts how you preferred the effects from the orange stuff , i get a yellowy product from this tek and believe me it works, oh my god how it works. And after a re- x i ended up with that golden orange crystally stuff you were drooling over I always thought a re-x would make it whiter and on other occasions it has. The tek describes a 50g extraction which is great for practicing and the yields are good.
Good luck whatever you decide.

Hello Fractal Obscurity. To do a practace run, just divide everything up accordingly to scale with a smaller ammount like 50g or 100g to try it. That's what i do.

And with the PH thing. Just test the ph to what the origional tek said to do. I have personally never tried this tek though. Let us know how it works for ya.

Alright, I kinda figured but I wasnt sure if everything would divide the same, I may need some smaller containers if i am to go down to 1/10th the original size! Thanks for clarifying this! So just use the PH's from the first tek then. Awesome cause I have PH strips on the way(figured it was a good thing to order)! I wonder if I should just follow the first tek or use the updated one that features the use of an acetone wash and Citric acid instead of Muratic acid.

you want a pH between 2 and 4, closer to 4 though.
instead of wasting money on citric acid, just go for vinegar, it naturally has a pH at about 2.
then you want to bring it up to ~13 but it will be very hard to read on the pH as the mimosa juice stains the papers
so, you can test your hydroxide solution before adding it to the jug, making sure it is 13+, then add some more for good luck.
yea you can definitely scale down, just make sure your pH's are correct.

as for using the updated tek, the acetone wash is only really necessary if your extract doesn't scrape up solid, or if you wanted to purify your extract further, without losing any spice.

just so you know beforehand, toluene STINKS
if you're doing it inside, make sure you have plenty of ventilation.

if smell is a problem for you, you may want to salt it out with the vinegar, then apply heat to bring it back to freebase.
if it's still sticky after that, do an acetone wash.

ftcrb thanks for the tips!! Appreciate it! Will be trying Shaggy's Jungle Tek as soon as I acquire some of the equipment! (Its on the way).

what would cause your extract to not scrape up solid? Is this a thing that happens more often than not?

And I dont believe the smell will be a problem, I have oodles of respiratory protective devices at my disposal

You're welcome.

I would recommend getting a PH meter. When working with things like MHRB they will already be colored. This will effect the color on the PH strip and it will be harder to determine what the actual PH is.

Yes that is a great idea, I will order one soon! But I will be attempting cyb's tek(thanks again hug46 for suggesting this) for practice before I attempt a more complicated tek like Shaggy's just to get a handle on things!

well, it doesn't all come out crystalline,
when the toluene evaps off, you're left with like a red-orange oily sticky residue, with spots of crystallized dmt.
at first, it will look as though it wont scrape up solid, but once you start scraping, youll find that the crystals tend to absorb the oily stuff, changing their color and texture from white crystals, to a tan-brown-orange waxy powder
depending on the consistency you're going for, you may want to do the acetone wash

i can imagine that some bark produces more of this oil than other bark, and might not scrape up as well as others.

oh, if you do attempt the acetone wash, you may want to make your acetone anhydrous. it's very easy, just look it up.

you also want to dry and cure the extract before consuming to remove all trace amounts of toluene.
it can be a real pain in the ass to evap if it's cold.

What effect does the acetone wash have on consistency? I would definitely want more of a solid product as opposed to oily goo, the yellow/orange DMT I had two years ago was really dry and had fine sand consistency too it, just amazing!

What is the purpose of anhydrous acetone? Why is that not mentioned in Shaggy's tek?

Yes, I read in his tek he heats the dish ever so lightly while fanning to assist in the toluene evaporation.

Cant wait to try this tek, I just have to get some more supplies, attempting Cyb's salt hybrid tek now
