'other psychoactives'

Migrated topic.
nothing's wrong with it. it's a medicinal plant. there is no need to extract or discuss extracting it here on the Nexus. I do not believe anybody here would argue in favor of extracted coca being an Entheogen.

oook, if u put it that way, i understand. i wouldn't consider it an entheogen either, but i did think it would fit under the heading "Other Psychoactives". but, if this is not the right place to discuss this particular 'medicinal' plant, then i wont.

by the definition of the word coca leaves at least are an entheogen..the way the inca people use the leaves fits the decription of entheogen perfectly..they use it as a sacrament. It's not a visionary plant though..at least not that I have ever read about..who knows though maybe it can be just like mapacho can be..I think they have a rich alkaloid profile it's not just a cocaine experience.

In its natural, pure form, coca is an incredible medicinal plant, and was sacred to the Incas as the divine leaf of immortality. It is also sacred to the Kogi tribe. It contains around 1% cocaine I think, but it also rich in a host of antioxidants, and minerals such as potassium and magnesium, that tend to be lacking in other areas of the Indian's diet. And they are used as an entheogen, I think healers or shamans are able to commune with the energy essence in the leaves to some degree.

It is also good at treating altitude sickness. I recall, a few summers ago now, traveling from Cusco in the Andes, 3,800m above sea level, to Manu National Park with my best friend, with our crazy guide, in a car that had seen more years than I had! We had the good fortune of going to a Coca farm on route, and at one stage, we were almost 5,000m above sea level! I felt a bit light headed and weird, not unpleasant, but not normal either! Well a nice mug of coca tea really sorted myself and my friend out. We made it to Manu, and I had the most amazing ayauhasca experience of my life...special trip 😉

I recall the shaman was chewing lots of coca leaves during that ceremony, and he had also partaken of the ayahuasca.

Coca in its raw, natural form is a purely beneficial food and medicine. It is only when we process it, is it tainted and becomes a corrosive and, for some, addictive poison.

apparently i crossed a line asking about coca extraction, but poppy extraction seems to be ok to discuss. did i miss a list of rules somewhere??:? im being serious.
thanks

Hi biopsylo,

You are absolutely right on that one. The poppy extraction thread has been removed too. Thank you for brining up that point.

i stated in the first line of my thread - "I know this is on the edge of what the forum allows and if it just over the edge - then please lock or delete it."
now - because of this - i spoke to trav and best thing to do was to remove my thread(i dont mind i learned a lot and enjoyed sharing it)
i didnt intend on extracting pure morphine(as opposed to extracting pure cocaine) i was after a smokable product from dried pods for medicinal use. What medicinal use was the coca for ?

Thank you for clearing that up Phlux-.

open mouth, insert foot.
i certainly was not trying to get your thread shut down, Phlux:? as i found it very interesting. i obviously missed the handout on what is and is not ok to discuss. sorry.
i was moderately interested in a non-toxic coca extraction for general stimulant and well-being. if i had access to FRESH coca leaves, then i would simply quid with some quinoa ash like the indigenous People of the Andes.

peas

quinoa is a superfood--yumm
the ash is high in potassium and phosphorous which increase the ph in the mouth and facilitates alkaloid adsorption more readily.
not sure how widespread its use is, but i have read that burnt seashells or lime are used as well.

Hi Traveler,,

thanks for all the work u are doing here at the Nexus. it is always a positive experience to be here.

happy new year

Grow the plant and chew the leafs.

Coca plants are MUCH easier to find than you think and are easy and fun to grow.

easy to grow, really?!?
im at 43 deg lat. (freezing winters)

someday i would absolutely love to have a huge greenhouse full of sacred plants.
have u grown coca? can it be grown indoors? i thought it needed to be grown at altitude.
