Pellet of Slag?

SWIM's spice is ready to be recrystallized if necessary, but had some questions about Noman's tek. The basic process is easy to understand but SWIM was wondering what a pellet of slag looks like. SWIM imagines the crystals reforming on the bottom of the shot glass with yellowish naphtha left over to be filtered off, leaving even whiter, clearer crystals. Is it possible to get big shards of crystals like the infamous erowid pic with multiple recrystallizations?

Is SWIM's uncrystallized spice safe to smoke without recrystallization? It was read on here that some people like the yellowish spice better than the purer, whiter kind. If it's possible that there is NaOH left over, SWIM would rather get rid of it.

its good to do one recrystalization..but dont throw out the stuff you separate out of it..its still potent as hell...but has some possible lye in it...but then you also have some nice fluffy stuff..which is great too...in the end you will find the kind that you like to smoke better...and its fun to mix it up a bit...have fun with it...its an adventure!

and you can most definitely smoke it without recrystalizing but its just harsher...play around with it..find what you like

OK, so the stuff that is separated out would be considered the "slag", correct? And this is active as well you say? Is this the jungle spice SWIM has read about on other threads? If lye remains, is this where it would be? Does this pic portray what we are trying to do with recrystallization?

Noman's tek says "You will end up with DMT
crystals of varying purity atop a pellet of slag which still contains quite a bit of DMT but
also lye if you skipped the ammonia wash."

How is the slag separated from the crystals or are the slag and the naphtha one in the same at this point?

what SWIM usually does is takes his spice and covers it with naphtha..and then put it on some sort of heat source...and let the solvent absorb the spice...what you will get is a layer on the bottom that looks like oil..yellow clear oil...and so then you pour off the solvent and either evaporate it...or what SWIM does is put it back in the freezer..and you get nice fluffy crystals in a matter of hours...you can try extracting more clean stuff out of the yellow oil...or you can just let it sit out for awhile..and it will get hard/waxy/crystally

Hi,

Slag = DMT n-oxide plus dmt plus any other lipid impurities that might have precipitated.

The white stuff on top of it indeed dmt, one may wish to manually separate it.

The slag can be recrystallised because it certainly contain more dmt, even though it can be smoked as such (it is going to be just more mellow and not too intense, possibly good for first time experiences?).

During the recrystallisation of the slag one will observe that it won't dissolve in naphtha; In the hot naphtha solution it will look like a yellow/orange liquid (because it melts!) but it will never mix (or dissolve) in the naphtha. It will quickly fall on the bottom of the container of the hot naphtha from where it can be aspirated and set aside to dry. It will look pretty sticky.
