OK so this is my first post in any forum. Up to this point iv only ever read forums so please go easy :)

Well swim was at this festival talking to a person about extractions from Acacia Acuminata. swim has only ever tried it with Acuminata bark before but this person
said that you can and should use the leaves/phyllodes. firstly because it harms the tree less and leaves are also easier to collect.
does anybody have any opinions they would like to share about this because it seems like the leaves would contain much more plant oils and chloroform than the bark.
not too sure on the alkaloid concentrations in the bark or phyllodes either so if someone has some info on that it would be great if they could share it.

thank you
:D

Up to 1.5% alkaloids, mainly consisting of tryptamine in leaf.

i have not work with this plant but i would say to gather leaves, it is a lot easier. and as it goes for getting root bark, i believe if you know how to get it the tree will not be harmed, after digging up a root and removing the bark, the tree will simply just shoot out another one.

Thanks for the reply. swim doesn't use the root-bark but the bark btw and its really wet and sappy stuff like honey. quite a pain to get it off. will try the leaves and post the results.
cheers

Hey there, just wondering how successful your extract was with the phyllodes? I've also noticed that there are seeds available with 'broad phyllodes' and 'narrow phyllodes'. Any idea which one you used?

Cheers,
