Pineapple to break the goo

Migrated topic.

Does anyone know if throwing fresh pineapple chunks in with a cacti boil would help break the goo? I was thinking the bromelain may help and it could definitely make it more palatable.

This may actually help. That is, as long as the cactus goo is protein-based or protein-assisted, then bromelain (a protease) may be pretty handy. People have proposed something similar using papain in the past for the same reason. It would be great to see someone actually trying it.

But bromelain is an enzyme and it should be treated as an enzyme; boiling will definitely destroy it. If you want to try it, do so by pre-incubating wet cactus with pineapple mush for at least an hour to around 30-40 degrees centigrade. The woody core of pineapple is thought to contain much more bromelain, FYI.

Is this the new tek for bromo-mescaline that the world has been waiting for?
**facepalp**

let me guess...bromelain--> bromo-something-->bromomescaline?!?!?!:lol:
(the name is actually coming from the Family of Bromeliaceae, where pineapple belongs)

Well, since THH and THC are such similar compounds, why not?

Yeah, I mean lysergic acid diethyl amide and hydrochloric acid are both acids, so therefore they both must be hallucinogenic

Hahahahaha!!!

But lysergic acid diethylamide is not an acid, it is an amide. It does not make you trip as hard as hydrochloric of hydrofluoric acid do.

lol

if a kitchen chemist "bromo-mescaline" tek comes out, let others lab rat that stuff!!!!
the science and understanding of this is far beyond the home chemist

i know many ways around the goo, pineapple aint one of them so far as i know...

What would you use to pull from an acidic solution? Water?

I'm not 100% certain I know what you mean by "pulling from an acidic solution", but if you're talking about extracting the freebased alkaloids, you have to basify the solution first. In acidic solution, virtually all of the alkaloids are in their salt forms and will be vastly more soluble in water than in nonpolar solvents (like d-limo)

I really like the way this thread has degenerated but can anyone speak to the original topic? It would be nice to find out that pineapple mush is the solution to all the world's problems. And by world I really just mean cactus-goo.
When I was first playing around with fresh cactus, I made several cactus+pineapple smoothies. These smoothies tended to froth up much less in the blender than the pure cactus I had blended previously. Not sure if that means anything in contexts outside of those specific occurrences, but thought I'd chime in on the chance it could mean something.

for tea,
pressure cook until snot slacks, it doesn't need acid, mescaline is water sol w/o acid in plant form
why every tek calls for acid is beyond me
