SWIM printed off Q21's tek, because he lacks the internet at home, and gave it a whirl. In the tek, it seemed that plastic containers and the like were being used with no concern, so SWIM did the same. Of course, now that SWIM comes on here to follow up on how his technique could be improved, he finds others saying that Q21 has a reputation for being rather careless about the health safety of his procedures, and now worries that there may be plastic in his result. SWIM wonders if dangerous impurities/plastic, etc are bound to follow the alkaloids when salting them out?
Also, SWIM bought the limonene from a company that manufactures earth friendly cleaning products. This whole plastic thing hadn't occurred to him yet at that point, so he didn't think much of it when they sold him the solvent in a plastic container. Now he doesn't have it handy, so he can't tell you what kind of plastic it is, but he also worries that this may be a source of contamination to his product.
So the question is, are there any plastics that won't dissolve in limonene, and any particularly that do?
And one final thing- if one salts out his DMT so that he doesn't have to evaporate it directly from the non-polar solvent, is there a reason why plain old, food grade vegetable oil can't be used? SWIM's tired of all this potentially health-damaging stuff, and in Canada it is extremely difficult to find supplies, let alone those of ingestible quality.
