Update: Only 80°C is sufficient. Process looks the same. Will try an even lower temperature at a later time.

Hi there
I believe to have found out some useful information I'd like to share. I hope this is the correct place for this type of thread.
I have procured some high quality NB-DMT oxalate and have been trying to convert it with minimal polymerization (minimal orange/red discoloration when melted) before smoking.
The idea is to not use any base catalysis (such as using sodium carbonate which was suggested by other people elsewhere). Heat alone is sufficient to cleave the NBoc-group, thermally decompose the oxalate and even evaporate any isobuten that may be formed from decomposing the NBoc-group, leaving which seems to be pure DMT (sadly I have no available analysis methods to prove this).
The following method seems to work very well:
I use a glass "bong" with an oil pipe head. The NB-DMT oxalate is filled into the oil-pipe bowl, a thermally controlled heat-gun is set to 100°C and the oil-pipe bowl is heated from below to slowly decompose the material.
At first the white powder melts and starts producing gas. When all is melted and the bubbling is reduced to a minimum (only smaller bubbles start being produced), the heat is reduced to 80°C and then the material is continued to being heated, until the bubble production is minimal.
The timing depends on the amount that is to be converted, as the produced gas bubbles distance some of the melt from the heated bowl, such that the process takes longer when a larger amount is to be converted. This is why it makes sense to watch how much gas is being produced over time to see when the process is over.
What is left is a clear melt with only a very slight hint of a yellow/orange coloration. Smoking what is left is very mild when using a tealight candle.
What do you think of the method? Am I on the right track? How could this be improved?
Are there any chemists around, who might be able to try this method and confirm by analysis, that this methods works as I think it does?
I'm still trying around, maybe remaining at a lower temp is also possible.
Lots of love! Enjoy
