Powdered, shredded, or chipped bark

I wanted to quickly get a consensus about which, if any, of the three common ways to revive MHRB bark is preferred. I heard that getting it in chips helps to guard against being scammed with fake bark, but that is the only thing other than having to powdering it yourself that made any bearing one way or the other.

Appreciate any additional insights

For me, the choice is related to whatever sort of tek I'm using. I have a few different ones I like and have had success with, and the success depends a lot on the form of the base material.

For instance, 'mud pies' work best with powdered and 'tea' works best (for me) with shredded.

We can discuss the different forms with regards to extraction but not acquiring bark.

For MHRB powdered with STB is the most common route.
If you'd like to have no solids, for example if using a separatory funnel, shredded will make filtering easier.

I got back and forth on filtering. In thr past, I filtered out the bark and solids after two or three freeze/thaw cycles of the bark/acidic water solution. It’s always such a pain in the ass to filter and other than making it possible to use a separation funnel, I don’t see the advantage of filtering.

It can be a tad tedious when siphoning the last bit of nps from the soup, but that pales in comparison to the work and time needed to filter.

I would love to hear any other’s inputs

I filtered on my first two extractions and then ditched it. With mhrb it's not really necessary. The xtals are so clean after a max ion tek extraction. If needed, a re-ex takes much less time and effort than filtering

I wonder if a filter press like this one would help make it easier?? Before, I was trying to filter everything through a 2" Buchner filter under vacuum through filter paper. I bet some good, fine cheesecloth, coupled with a press like this would mske it much easier. I may have to try it

For easier filtration do it in steps, first a fine strainer to remove the bigger pieces, then a cotton cloth to remove the powder, then let it settle for hours for the finer sediment to settle at the bottom and pour off the clarified liquid through a coffee filter slowly and only at the last moment pour along the fine sediemnt, then vaccume filtration. If you go directly to vaccume filtration it will clog quickly.
