So I did everything according to the instructions, including heating up the NPS before adding to the mixture of basified plant material, but when I got up this morning and dried the glass freeze precip dish, there was literally nothing there!

Now I didn't shake the jar when I added the NPS, but I gently rocked it back and forth to try to avoid emulsions... Is it possible I just didn't mix it well enough?

Thanks!

Definitely possible. Personally, I would advise using an excess of lye (you really can't use too much) and shaking the bejeezus out of it. Emulsions should be a non-issue.

Thank's for the tips Snozz! I added 30 more g's of lye and shook the heck out of it! It's looking a lot more yellow now!

For every unit of plant material, prepare nine units of water. First dissolve one unit of salt, then dissolve one unit of lye. Let the water cool and add the plant material. Let it stand for a day. After a day, warm the basifed soup in a water bath to body temperature, then add one unit of naphta, shake and let it settle, repeat this three times. Take off the naphta. Repeat this (adding fresh naphta, shaking and siphoning it of) at least three times. Collect the naphta and put it in the freezer. More naptha extractions may yield more product.
