I was referring your last post of juuls giants. Looking gooood. I'd like to start growing some of those. Where are yours from?
Off topic, did I just get full membership? I don't remember having access here before.

you must have gotten full membership to post here. congrats. it took me forever to get full membership!!!!
i happened to get these juul's giants from Bouncing Bear Botanicals. but it's rare they have 'em.
absolutely the best place to get cacti EVER is from Sacred Succulents.
they have an amazing selection, though you have to go the "snail route" of mailing your payment.
it's not instant gratification like with your credit card over the net and then getting your cacti 2 days later.
you have to mail them a couple bucks for a catalogue and wait wait wait.
then mail them your order and wait wait wait.
it's so worth it though. truly amazing and rare specimens.
more pics to come soon.

are those juuls giants seed grown crosses(like SS02 X juuls),or from a clone; I hear a lot of variability about the potency?

my particular juul's that i posted a few posts ago are a pure strain from a cutting. they are not hybrids.
THESE pics that i'm posting here ARE hybrids. the three on the right are juul's X SS01 (SS01 = Torch) and the 3 on the left are pedro X SS01 (torch).
the bigger guy in the middle is just a regular pedro.
yes i hear a lot about potency variation too (from juul's), but mine knocked my freakin' socks clean off so who knows??

It's a shame BBB has nothing now. I actually have a sacred succulents catolog and am thinkng of putting together a seed order. Might just throw those on there too.

yeah it is I see they had juuls cuttings. Where does one get a juuls now besides somebody from australia? Does sacred sell juuls cuttings not on their site, but in their catalog? SS02 X juuls might be pretty good too anybody ever try that, or is this cross to new yet?

i'm looking at my Sacred Succulents catalogue and i can't find juul's cuttings. this is strange cos i know i've seen in one of their catalogues that you could buy cuttings from like 20 different kinds of juul's plants they had. they even offered short-spined or longer-spined juul's...i'm certain.
i'm sure if you emailed them they could sell some juul's. they always sell stuff that's not listed in their catalogue.
they are some exiting things i'm seeing though in the catalogue:
actual 12 inch cuttings (not seedlings, like i have and posted a few posts back) of pedro X Juul's so those are ripe for exploration.
mine are too skinny to harvest. i bet these cuttings would be plenty to bioassay.
as far as SS02 X Juuls, they only offer seeds not cuttings. i think most of these promising hybrids are still to new to be fully harvested yet.
SS02's are bridgesii's in case some of you didn't know.
they've got 2 year old bridgesii X juuls seedlings for sale.
oh my gosh EPIC: they have a (follow me on this one) peruvianusxjuul's X SS02, like a hybrid/hybrid mix.
really awesome stuff, i suggest you drool over a copy as i do.
i've spent so many hours of my life with Trout's notes on san pedro in one hand and the sacred succulents catalogue in the other.
soooo many hours.....

hey DG, that cristate you have grafted: does it grow a lot faster like that??
i hear those are very slow growing, i wonder how much grafting speeds it up.
even my monstrose bridgesiis are painfully slow.
i hear cristate is even slower...

and dg.. did you ever bio-assay or extract the grafted 'yotes or other mesc-containing cact ? did you notice if the rate of alkaloid production accompanies the increased growth speed, or are they weak?

i'd never do such a thing to a poor little pete:roll:
the grafted are about as strong as a good bridg clone
not as strong as the few wild cacti im ashamed to say i have eaten have been

"yes i hear a lot about potency variation too (from juul's), but mine knocked my freakin' socks clean off so who knows??"
how was it prepared for bio?
known to contain very little mesc, but be really strong as tea, same as some bridg clones
suggesting interesting and totally unknown synergy :)

i never make teas anymore, only dried/unheated powder in capsules.
i came to the conclusion long ago that: heat = destruction and/or alteration...hands down.
on top of that, there are always goodies left behind in the pulp no matter what precautions you take to exhaust it.
the only benefit to tea i can see is for the people who get too nauseated by all that plant matter.
otherwise, let your tummy do the extraction, you'll get close to 100% that way...you can really tell the difference.
besides being stronger you'll also notice a qualitative difference.
with unaltered alkaloids you'll end up with a more visual, more "in your face" kinda feel as the heat can destroy some of the synergistic alkaloids.
mescaline might be relatively stable but what about all the others??
i've heard a lot of people say that teas are more sedating and powder is more "electric," i add my testimony.
anyway, sorry for preaching... 😉

juul's giant was de-skinned and de-cored, dried, and then powdered.
8 grams dried was taken first to "test the waters."
it brought me to that place where i was too high to do "normal" tasks but not high enough to soar in the infinite skies.
not a good place in my opinion. give it all, or let me go about my sober duties!!!
so i added about 20 more grams dried powder.
like all other powdered cactus i've eaten, it took 3 hours to come up fully after each dose.
oh my geez, when the 28 grams juul's powder came together it was SO STRONG!
it definitely wasn't a mescaline experience like Torch, at least not a full one, it was very different from Torch or Pedro.
it wasn't as different as Bridgesii though, which to me, is like a universe of difference from Torch or Pedro.
bridgesii feels nothing like mescaline to me...i've never had a trip that was managable from it....all way too intense for me. (even at only 12 grams.)
the juul's experience was very very speedy. way more stimulating than torch.
it was not a dreamy experience like bridgesii or pedro.
it was very wide awake, and my hands were shaking almost uncontrollably at one point.
vast amounts of infinite wisdom-energy were pulsing through me, it was a very "head-space" psychedelic.
if i took it again, i would just start with 20 grams all at once. 28 was a wee bit too much.
though i've taken 17 grams of Torch powder and gone farther, so my Juul's was not the most potent cactus possible...definitely up there though.

funny though, why do all these cacti take like 3 hours to come on if mescaline is not their active ingredient??
i don't think there are many naturally occuring alkaloids that take 3 hours to come on besides mescaline.
i think i remember bridgesii coming on a little quicker but my dose was also MASSIVE so that could explain it.

besides plant matter/puking and shitting are common with tea
, a consistant uniform dose is nice, not guessing at plant potency etc. having your tummy do the extraction is hard on us old foggies, so is sittin on the shitter for 6hrs of a trip
so maybe you miss out on some alkaloids, not all of them are pleasant, or what you want in the moment.

just my o2

btw, extracted crystal starts coming on in 30-45min (at least in my fast system)

me too. i always feel it starting very quickly but it takes 3 hours with cactus powder (only 2.25 to 2.5 hours with pure crystals) to FULLY get there.
how long does it take to fully develop in you?? shorter than 2.5 hours??

Here's some bathtub Pron guys!!

(BTW, what's with the "pron" thing? i still don't get it... )

there really nice but damn they grow slowly ..........
15 years ...... how big are they in cm ?
they are this big....
when they are hard-grown they get PHAT root systems but their buttons don't "bulge" irregularly large like the grafted ones.
