OK guys, I have not posted here although I have been a member of the Shroomery for a very long time. I wanted to chime in on the topic of psilocybin extraction in this thread ( Psilocybin extraction - DMT Allies extraction - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus ) but found out that as a newcomer I have been restricted to the Welcome area
Anyway... I think that the nice fellows in the above thread are thinking in the wrong direction. Extraction of the actives from mushrooms is done very easily with citric acid. All you need to do is put dried, powdered shrooms in tea bags and immerse in water to which has been added some citric acid powder. The stronger the citric acid solution, the better, but it should be kept at below precipitation levels. In a few hours at room temperature, with occasional stirring, you will have extracted all you need. Then you remove the tea bags, decant and filter until you are left with clear citric acid + actives solution. This is a tested and proven (numerous times) method. Now, the goal is apparently to get to dry crystals, so all we need to find out is how to get the citric acid out of the solution. I do not know the answer to that but it should be pretty simple. If we manage it, then we evaporate and should have what we want. So... how to get citric acid out of water solution?
