q1212 tek 3rd layer?

Hey what's up guys, just a quick question. Friend of mine just did his first pull with 100g mhrb using q12 tek. Extractions worked fine with fluffy white goodness! Question is, he's into his 5th pull and noticed that there's a muddy layer now between the mhrb mixture and the naptha in the jar. Says it's a light colored liquid that moves pretty fluently and stays separated from everything else. What is this liquid ?

With it moving so fluidly it sounds a lot like Naptha. Normally when I do my pulls, there isnt other fluids other then the saturated bark. Have you tried pulling that layer out?

I have a side question for you...after several attemps with the q21 tek, I alawys was have issues with that precip stage. What did you do exactly to get the fluffy wight stuff?

no, i have not tried pulling that layer out. i've just left it and done my pulls like usual. Still getting the fluffy white stuff like usual. i wonder if it could be plant fats that might have been pulled out of the plant material itself? Not sure if it could be napatha cause it stays completely separate from the napatha and the plant material when i do pulls. Its sandwiched in between. Has this not happened to anyone else? I'd really like to get to the bottom of this! Comon guys! has anyone else run into this problem???

And to answer your question. after i do the water bath to pull the spice into the napatha, i pour it directly into a pyrex dish.(one with a red plastic cover) Cover it with a layer of syran wrap, put the cover back on and pop it straight into the freezer. You should have a layer of crystals on the bottom by the next day. pour the napatha back into the jar with a coffee filter and let your tray dry. i use a fan to speed things up. DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE SUN!!! made that mistake once ....never again!

what is happening with your spice during the precip stage?
