Q21Q21 confirmation

SWIM's just added the Ca(OH)2 for Q21Q21's tek2, and the mimosa mixture has gone grey - like a cross between bolognese and mud, on the borderline between grey and dark brown.
He added 40g calcium hydroxide to a ~50g MHRB, 50ml Asda distilled white vinegar and 50ml hot water. It's incredibly tough to stir, and he hasn't added more water yet (as per step 3 of basification)
Just to check, is everything going okay?

With lots of mixing, the mixure appears to have become more workable, and indeed practically at the desired consistancy, but is still dark grey.
Supposed to be happening?

stick with it, as long as the ingredients are good the product will come out.
It is really very simple you don't need to worry, just post some pictures when you have your spice.

Sounds ok to me, and the Asda vinegar is fine. You maybe added slightly too much lime, so just balance this out by adding more water (in very very small amounts) and then mix each time til you get the right consistency as described in the tek. The grey colour is completely normal.

Yeah, SWIM stuck with it, and has 2 x 50ml naphtha in the freezer as we speak, with (what are hopefully) loads of mini DMT crystals looking for places to latch to. :D
Will update tomorrow with yields of the first two pulls, and also the day after with the final two pulls (naphtha re-use ftw).

Also, should SWIM leave the mh mixture uncovered whilst waiting for the naphtha, or lid it? (It's in a mason jar atm) I would've though lid it to prevent oxidisation and unwanted drying, but checking never hurts, right?

Sounds great!

Shouldn't matter too much, lid is probably safer than letting the mini-amounts of naptha evaporate into the atmosphere.

thread hijacking? No big deal as long as it isn't barky-water it will melt then evaporate clean just a lot slower than the residual naptha

Right! Got the results of SWIM's first two pulls! Over 280mg of pretty pure spice ^^ (pics attached, SWIM says over as SWIM couldn't knock some of the still-slightly-damp spice out of the text tube it was in)
Texture: Mostly fine crystals, powdery, with a few larger ones. One small bit in the bottom of SWIM's final-product tube which hasn't dried out completely yet (SWIM's bad guys!) which is kind of waxy/gooey.
Fairly pure, the odd specks of orange, two small pieces of dirt. Nothing major. Probable contaminants: Generic dust/dirt, possibly some rust (scraping with screwdriver) and SWIM acidentally dropped a small lump of MH+vinegar+calcium hydroxide mixutre into the naphtha whilst pouring it off, which he swiftly fished out again. Left a few streaks along the bottom of the jar whilst freeze-precipitating though, so some of that might've got into the scraped-off cystals :(
Smells like, erm... exotic flour? Can't describe it really. ^^
SWIM's doing another two pulls today, shall post the final results tomorrow.
Pre-post edit: There's water-insoluable gunk at the bottom of one of SWIM's precipitation containers, after the DMT's been scraped out. Greasy, not pleasant. Whatever it is, some of it has almost certainly gone into SWIM's DMT. Hopefully just cold DMT-saturated naphtha. SWIM was using Ronsonol, so it should be clean. SWIM won't actually class this as a problem until it shows itself to be one.

The goo in the bottom of the test tube that SWIM scraped up, he just heated. It got runnier, boiled, made a vapour, and rather more peculiarly, turned black. SWIM doesn't know what DMT smells like yet, so he can't say if the vapour was DMT or not, but it certainly made him light-headed after a few sniffs.
SWIM's going to discard the goo for now. This leaves ~230mg crystal to play with whilst waiting for the 3+4th pulls tomorrow (precipitating in one container this time).

Woah.

SWIM just tried 20mg to test it, and... woah. Close-eye visuals, open-eye distortions, and complete change of thinking pattern (or so he claims).
He's gunna need some time to think about this, but... frikkin... the full dose is going to be mind-blowing.

A tip for the future : Do your evaps in a small rectangle pyrex dish and use a flimsy straight razor blade to do the scraping. SOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier than tryin to get down in the mouth of a mason jar :d
