Questions regarding San Pedro extraction

Hello Nexus!

This is my first post and I'm happy to be here. I've heard a lot about this place but never decided to become a part of it.

Anyhow, I am looking to plunder into some cactus extraction. I've done some research and I am going with 69ron's D-Limonene Tek using vinegar. I thought about using hydrochloride at first but I'm going to try going risk-free with the vinegar.

My questions are regarding the final product mostly, and some of the parts inbetween. I want to get the most product out possible and I am extremely patient. I want to take at least two days doing one pull, just like I did with DMT which seemed to work well. My question is how long is long enough before saying OK, you've definitely gotten a good amount out of there. I don't want to spend 3 days when really all I need to do is 1 day.

The final product I want to know most about because I plan to gel cap it. Can anyone recommend any tips for doing this? From my understanding because vinegar pulls a wide range of alkaloids that it'll be difficult to work with. I'm hoping to get it dry at some point and powderize it, but from what I'm reading it doesn't seem possible. The drying process seems to take forever, and it also seems that people are having trouble getting the temp right. 69ron said 155 so I hope to mimic that. I was going to use my oven but the lowest temp it goes to is 200, and it's also notoriously hot. I might have access to a dehydrator but I can't rely on that. Are there any techniques that people have used that work? I don't like open-air drying because a lot of other things get into the mixture and makes it "dirty". I want to make the dosage as accurate as possible so that I take the right amount every time.

My third and final question is about the dosing. I'm extracting San Pedro so there is going to be more than mescaline in there. My question is how do I gauge the dosing? I figure in the end I'm just going to mix all the alkaloids together like a salad and just package it up. Is there a consistent amount of mescaline throughout that makes dosing fairly accurate, or do you find each gel cap to vary in potency?

Thanks for any and all help. I appreciate it all the same.

I've spent up to 7 days with this tek doing long soaks and what not. Like anything if you want to get the best out of it, then take your time.

My results tend to be quite manageable but obviously different cactus different results. Also you have to scrape this stuff about a bit before it dries properly.

My best results came from a room temperature evaporation. Any attempts I've used heat for came out inferior with the same materials.

I standardize all my product when it's all been pulled by mixing it all in a little bit of acetone and then evaporating, then each dose is identical. This works with water too, it just takes longer to evaporate.

I won't recommend a dosage as I've read some very wide spanning info on here. I've had up to 400mg's which gave light fluttery visuals, some folk have claimed to get a more intense experience from the same, others vica versa.

Thanks for the response :)

So time-wise it doesn't matter, that's awesome! I will have to tinker around with it to find a sweet spot.

Ahh OK, well I think I will have to make some room on the shelves in my storage room. Sounds like room temp is the only way to go!

I assume this is with vinegar used as a solvent? From what I understand doesn't mescaline acetate dissolve in acetone? My understanding was it would dissolve and if you evaporated it the mescaline would evaporate too. So far I haven't read of any teks that wash the final product when using vinegar - only hydrochloride.

OK, fair enough. I guess it largely depends on the cactus and how the process goes, and all the other little variables I'm missing. Sounds good, I guess it will be some trial and error (good thing it's mescaline!).

Thanks again! I really appreciate the advice.

After the vinegar is pulled from the limonene, it is evaporated to leave mescaline. Now, it takes a while to evaporate and then can be tough to work with, so he adds some acetone to dissolve it again. When the acetone evaporates, the mescaline is evenly spread around the collection dish and will likely be drier than if only water was used.

Good choice starting w/ 69ron's d-limo tek - not messing with solvents is the way to go. SWIM tried a xylene tek a while ago and still regrets it... that stuff smells awful.

If you dissolve mescaline in acetone or water (or any other solvent), and then evaporate the solvent, the mescaline won't evaporate as well. You don't have to worry about losing product like that.

As far as dosing goes, SWIM recommends you have a miligram-range scale available! Trying to gauge doses with a scale accurate to only 0.1 or even 0.01 is just a guessing game. SWIM tried a small dose today by just estimating (he thought it was about 80-100 mg), but found no discernible effects.

SWIM has been using a dehydrator to evaporate his vinegar pulls. He has collected a pretty decent amount of product (averaging approx. 1% yield), but has not had the time to try a decent-sized dose.

BTW - when you talk about dissolving mescaline, vinegar isn't really a solvent. Vinegar = acetic acid + water, maybe with a few extra spices for taste.

Ahh okay I see now, thanks w0mbat & Touche Guevara.

I just realized the Gravy Separator I have doesn't have HDPE or PP marked on it anywhere.. do you think it will be safe to use? It isn't polystyrene as far as I know.

Put some limo on the bottom and after a few minutes check the texture to see if it's dissolving the plastic.

You should really read the entirety of the limonene thread if you haven't already done so.

Good idea Touche. I'll probably just invest in one that does indeed have the markings on it, though, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks guys you've been really helpful. I will definitely post up my results once I have gone through with it - you don't see too many pictures around of the final product, so I will try to supply some. :)

So instead of extracting I've decided to make an extraction by going with the method house posted in the Cacti section. I have already started and the tea has been going for about 3 hours now, about 5-7 more to go! I have taken pictures and I'll be providing a detailed set of instructions for repeating this to make it easy for ANYone to do.
