Re crystallization

I did my first re crystallization. I had 280 mg spice.

In the FAQ it is advised to take 20-30 ml of naphtha per gram spice. So I took 8 ml of naphtha to redissolve. I followed the instructions precisely.

In the thin glas container there was some yellow / brown goo on the bottom. I separated the naphtha and let it dry on a dish that was covered with foil. Some small holes were made in the foil to slow down the process of evaporating. After 48 hours I took a first look and noticed that the DMT was on the disk in the shape of leaf powder, or like skin flakes. And very, very thin.

Is this where they refer to in the FAQ when saying ‘ large crystals’ ? Maybe a stupid idea, but I expected to get crystals shaped like super cubes.

The re crystallization was a succes as well as a disaster. The substance was white but about half of it was vanished.

Anyway, I think I have bothered you already too often given my short membership.

Yep, those are crystals. You lost half your yield because half the yield was impurities. Enjoy your spice! :thumb_up:

I recommend enhanced leaf... personally I could never get enough vapor for a proper experience so enhanced leaf was amazing for me and beautifully easy

Changa is also truly amazing and IMO a much more comfortable journey but you'll need to extract some harmalas for that

I was thinking of using a meth pipe. I do have those already. Just the DMT in the pipe, keeping a long distance from the flame. Very slowly bringing the fire to the pipe in order not to burn anything. And then hopefully it will vaporize and I can inhale the smoke.

If you have retrieved the white substance from the naphtha after precipitation, can you directly do a re crystallization? Or is it better (not to say necessary) that the white substance first gets dry before dissolving it in the warm naphtha again?

The only reason you would need to dry it is to weigh it (or to smoke/vape it of course). So yes, I would recommend drying and weighing before and after the re-x so that you will know if you lost any product. If you are not worried about a potential difference in weight/yield then you can re-x right away (at least I have before when pressed for time).

On a different note, I agree, and know from first hand experience, that the meth pipe method of administration is a very wasteful way to go about smoking/vaping DMT. Does it work? Yes, but very poorly.

The Grateful One, thank you for this information. Today I finished my third extraction. In one of the jars taken from the freezer I noticed some brown spots on the bottom. I guess these are basic sludge drops. So I did a re crystallization. Now the substance is left on a dish for evaporation and drying.

After three extractions I do have enough DMT for some trips. And yes, I will not use a meth pipe. I ordered a GVG and hopefully the object will be released soon from Customs.

So your GVG is being held up in customs? That is interesting and unfortunate, indeed! I hope they send it your way soon too! From what I've read, the GVG is an amazing device. I don't own one personally (I stick to changa in the bonga, mostly :d ) but I plan to purchase one sometime in the not-so-distant future!

Congrats on the successful extractions, btw! Let us know how it goes once you get that GVG!
