Recrystallization gone to hell.....

I will try and summarize what occurred as best I can in an effort to seek information on what has happened. I had two batches of gorgeous crystal. Small clear, perfect shards. Decided to try for a diamond finally.

Warmed Solvent (Bestine), dissolved spice (one place I may have made a mistake, I put the container in the bath to help dissolve it with a lid), allowed to cool until I saw the yellow oil precip out and decanted off.

Set aside to crystallize in a water bath with foil over the top (second place I may have made a mistake I did not cinch the foil).

Came back to a yellow layer of rock hard paste on the bottom of my container and crystals atop it. Freaked out.

Decided to re-x and check for water contam. Redissolved spice (again warmed to assist especially with that yellow rock). Decanted and removed water bubbles (3 bubbles found)

Set aside to precip.

IT DID IT AGAIN.

Hey, I just wanted to let ya know that 3 people I know have complained about the exact same thing and I think its because of the bark you received. Everyone was unable to seperate the yellow from the spice. My cat defatted with freeze precip, then re-x, then freeze precip again, then did a a/b wash and it STILL came out yellow. Can't figure it out.

I guess I misinterpretted what you said. Sorry.

You went from having powder white and tried to re-x and it turned out yellow? Hm. Yea I can think it probably oxidized. But I dunno what water contamination is. What's that? Surely it wouldn't make your goods yellow.
