Whenever I used to hear the word Reiki I would scoff-
Oh you're healing someone just by thinking about them?
All you need to do is touch someone and they are healed?
Little did I know I was just misinterpreting it.
And not only was I misinterpreting it, but most of the people I had ever conversed with or read from was as well.
Just like any other system it had been hijacked by the New Agers and people thought they were doing something they understood but for the most part were just making shit up. Of course I am just speaking generally here.
It wasn't until one day I was smoking hash with a very psychedelic and intuitive woman I work with (she's almost 50 and looks to be in her 20s or 30s and has told me some absolutely phenomenal stories about tripping that would blow your minds) who is a healer and dabbles in what she calls Reiki when my mind was able to be open enough to truly grasp the potential of this system.
Automatically she puts her hands on my shoulders while we are in a fluorescent lit room full of people and gets to work learning about what needs to be done just by feeling. I close my eyes and completely relax in my chair still sitting down but with my back up straight. She pulls my shoulders back with quick, agile, strong, and fluid movements also working on my neck and head. Moving things around in ways they probably never have been. Then all of a sudden she did something to my neck...
See... I've had problems with nerves in my throat and right ear almoat my whole life. I have grown used to it but sometimes and especially in the past it has brought much pain and grief to my life. No one has ever been able to tell me exactly what is wrong with it. I've met one other petson with the same condition and same background with lots of ear infections and anti-biotic use as kids. We both can't pop our ears and have similar symptoms. So with that background information stated, when she moved to my neck she literally MOVED something inside of it. Something that felt squishy or cartilage-like and at least the size of a marble located on the right side of the neck underneath the ear and jaw. We both felt and heard it shift positions. I have absolutely no idea what this piece of me was but as soon as it was back into place something happened.
I was gone.
I was no longer me.
The room disappeared.
I was flying through a vortex of neon and pastel light at high speeds.
I thought for a split second that I had died!
She ripped an artery out of place and I was dead!!!!!
But after a while I realized I was still thinking. Still breathing.
The G-Forces were immense and very strong. I was light as a feather and soaring.
If I was not familiar with psychedelics or other phenomenological states like sleep paralysis this would have been absolutely terrifying- but I gave in and let go and slowly came back to reality while she kept working on me. I figured even if I had died oh well there was nothing I could do about it and freaking out wouldn't make any difference.
The whole thing lasted about as long as DMT would but it wasn't very DMT-like. The space wasn't alive or folding. It was just an illuminated vortex of detachment. So with this in mind I don't think you could blame DMT for this it must have been something else either chemically or biologically induced somehow. Or you can just look at it spiritually and the droplet of my existence simply melded back into the pool of possibilities from which we all come from...but that doesn't really explain things pragmatically.
When she eventually stopped and I opened my eyes everything was glowing and I felt distant, calm but regenerated and very aware. I felt amazing. Some kind of drug or drugs were just flushed into my system or something. I really don't know.
"HOLY &^%*(**%&!!!!!!!!!!!" I spent the next 10 minutes ecstatically explaining what had happened to her and everyone else in the room who were just as baffled as I was. And apparently I am not the first person to have had this happen from her work. She told me a story about how she was working on people at a festival and one person must have had something similar happen because when they came back they freaked out on her and asked her something along the lines of: "How dare you!? Who do you think you are messing with such powerful forces?!"
I was so relaxed and high that I took the rest of the night off work and just passed out feeling so amazing and refreshed! I still have no idea what she did to me but it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had that wasn't psychedelically induced. And I THOUGHT I WAS INTUITIVE. She blew my mind! This experience really opened me up a lot more to just how intuitive people can be. Sure, cannabis can be psychedelic, but not when you smoke as often as I do. I need to eat some serious edibles to get far out and even then it's nothing like what had happened to me after she shifted that thing in my neck. But cannabis definitely played a key role in what happened here. I often get the intuitive urge to do things immediately after using it. There is something about it when used for "tuning-in" purposes can be very effective compared to the illusion of sober-states. She told me we must have been communicating on a soulular level for a while before this happened and our bodies just converged automatically to make it happen.
I wrote this up for the Nexus because we can think we are so right all of the time. We can think we truly understand something. But just like how DMT shows us- some things can not be understood unless they are directly experienced, and even then, some things are just not meant to be understood. Maybe other members of the community could chime in on similar experiences with Reiki, healing, or other endogenous psychedelic experiences that have happened to them.
Could the thyroid gland or lymph nodes have anything to do with this?
This happened months ago and I am still mystified.
