Report from way to high Sceletium tortuosum dosage

Just wanted to share the experince in case it could help others to better understand kanna.
I got 10g kanna from a vendor. I will not recommend this for any one beacouse the dose is after what ive read about sceletium way to high. but anyways i looked in encyclopedia of psychoactive plant by Ratsch. There it was writen about how you could put some kanna in the mouth with a zip of wine.
So i took 5g of kanna and a zip of red wine and let it all sit in the mouth for 10min.
After the 10 min i spit it all out and after 3-5 min i got the most euphoric feeling i have ever had. I just felt EXTREMLY EUPHORIC:d and got massiv hallucinations, the hallucinations where so vivid that i couldnt see the chair or table in front of me. The sensation lasted for 10-15 min. Tryed this 3 times now same thing happens but only lasts 10- 15 min.

that is an insanely huge dose of kanna...a normal HIGH dose is about 500mg of herb...

I am totaly aware of it. Thats why I wont recommed it. But for the record, I didnt get any form of negative effect in any of the trials.

wow - iv pushed sceletium dosages into the visual level a few times - great euphoria but horrible feelings other than that - like getting sweaty and irritated, restless and uncomfortable - most stimulants make me feel this way - so maybe its just me.

This is crazy interesting. I've avoided Kanna for years, simply because I'm with Phlux on the stimulant thing. But this has sparked a new interest. Please post findings people!

Sonofsnow - What if you dropped that dose by 50%? Just curious if you've tried that.

WOW! Seriously? I knew about the old reports about channa/kanna being hallucinogenic, but I was under the assumption that S. tortuosum actually was an incorrect identification of channa. How can you describe the trip, can you compare it to anything? Did it felt like a 5HT agonist like most of our favored entheogens?

I can't wait to try this... I will try with some Delosperma bosseranum too, as it contain mesembrine-alkaloids, and I have several of them growing.

The trip dosent really remind SWIM of any other enthogenic in form of the mental aspect, it wasnt especally psychedelic just extremly euphoric but SWIMS head was in a "normal" state of mind. Regardless of the mental aspect there was lots of enthoptical patterns, kinda like the ones SWIM gets on shrooms but only the patterns(waves) not manifesting to anything.

SWIM just had another go with the kanna same proscedure as last time. 5g of powderd kanna held in mouth with a zip of red wine in 10 min but this time 3 seeds with Datura stramonium eaten 30 min before. Same thing happend this time but the hallucinations lasted about 45 min. It looks like the hallucinations lasted longer with help from the datura seeds.But not quite sure. The kanna came from another vendor this time. SWIM will try again in a couple of days with out the seeds.

sceletium is used traditionally at dances or other festivities.. they combine all sorts of stuff in one evening.. heres the locally available things they combine it with: beer, cannabis, leonotis leonurus. they chew it, drink beer along with the chewing and smoke joints built from leonotis leonurus, cannabis and kanna powder.

ok swim has new 5:1 extract of it.. he'll try soon,maybe starting with 50mg snorted or smoked
seems that its alkaloids are very powerful at low dosages,maybe less than 1mg
he founds a nice extraction method too

wash powdered sceletium whith hexane 1:4 (g/ml) (defattening)
extract three times with h2so4 solution 0.05M, each boil using 50ml/g for 30 min.
filter the acidic solution and basify it to pH11 with ammonium hydroxide
extract freebase alks with 3 push od DCM at ratio of 1:2 with the solution.
After that you could precipitate your freebase or salify it with your acid,maybe hcl.:shock:

swim has only 2grams of 5:1 extract so he don't think to extract it couse he'll get very low quantities of alks with em,loosing part of the akaloids on the process..the less material you extract,the higher loss you have.

it tasted really salty so i suspect they maybe could have added some salt to it too.. :shock:
no effects from it and swim thinks he toke more than 150mg, it sucks :?
almost no bitter taste too.. :?
hopes mimosa isn't shit likes it
