Dear Nexus.

A friend of mine has got this stuff prescribed ,some say its pretty much like a benzo and I really would like to do some thourogh research for him on this specific thienodiazepine I am being concerned about his safety , you could say.
( :cry: :shock: :thumb_up: :want: ) <--:twisted: --> ( :!: :surprised :? :shock: :? :thumb_dow ):sick:

Please contribute any,if you have valuable Information ,or any Studies on the Medicine .
What are the list of recorded side effects/unwished effects obeserved ?

What does it decompose into? Could it decompose into anything harmful? I know there must be lots of Info about specific properties of this drug out there
.....would you consider it harmful?

I read somewhere that thienodiazepines In general target multiple different receptor types. is this true? Might Etilaam also be an SSRI/SNRI :? ?

Thanks ( :

We don't use it at our hospital, but from my readings, it is a strong GABA agonist, acting pretty much the same as other benzodiazepines, w/ a more rapid metabolism.

I can't speak for your friend's situation, however...

All benzo's are potentially dangerous w/ prolonged use... when adequately habituated to them, the withdrawal from them is potentially fatal if sudden, brutal and slow if prolonged.

I remember going to rehab when I was a late teen (long story) and there was a benzo addict there who was well into his second month of withdrawals. This guy was not a happy camper.

Etizolam can cause Blepharospasm which is involuntary eye spasms and flutterings. It also has a very short half life which with long term use can lead to dependancy problems pretty quickly and are more dangerous than say diazepam if you stop treatment really quickly, leading to fits and convulsions.

I wouldn't recommend long term use with any benzo/thieno diazepine but obviously some people do need them for certain situations, in the short term.

Etizolams metabolites are alpha-hydroxyetizolam and 8-hydroxyetizolam but i have no info on how dangerous these are.

Etizolam also shares some characteristics with Tricyclic antidepressants (according to wikipedia)
