so i tried using the search and couldnt find anything. i do have to admit that i usually dont post too much on forums, i usually find all i need to know without posting. but on with my question...

so a FOAF is trying his hand at the lazymans tek. he used 50 grams MHRB, 50 grams lye, and i think it was 150 cc's of naptha. (this is his first time so if he screwed it up be nice) everything went great but after the freeze he poured out the naptha and sat the half pint jar in a secret location to dry his spice. after a day of drying he said he couldnt scrape out the spice because when he tried, it just smeared. he said it was like there was a residue on the bottom of the jar. so i guess he has 2 different half pint jars with the spice still in the bottom of them. does anyone know what this could be, or how to go about getting it out? he is waiting to take his first journey. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it's just a very small amount of spice.

You can add a tiny amount of naphtha (like 10-20mL hot), dissolve everything in your 1/2 pint jar and then pour it into a shotglass or a flat plate (plate might be best). Allow to dry, shouldn't take long. You can then use a rasor blade to scrape up the xtals.

YEh i would boil the kettle and fill a pan with hot water.
Take your jars of spice and put them into the pan of hot water (make sure you don't let any water inside the jars.
Then get a third jar and put some naptha in this... put this jar into the water too.

So now you have your two spice jars and a jar of naptha sat in a pan of hot water. The spice will start to melt,
(sounds like its already oily)
Now drop some hot naptha into the spice jars. Put enough in there so that, when you put the lids of you can shake it about and wash all the oily spice off the sides of the jar.
Then pour it out into another dish for evaporating off. I prefer a small desert bowl because its like a lab evaporating dish and easy to scrape.

Im pretty much saying what Acolon said but, how i would do it.

your right acolon_5, it is a small amount of spice. he doesn't have scales so he just figured if he could see it he would at least try to get it out. thanks for the help guys! it really means a lot...
