Resin Update

Migrated topic.
okay so that could explain why you did not feel anything

you ate pretty much 1/6th of a dose

50grams of chips could contain about about 200mg

at .4% mescaline

that should be around average of commercially available

So that means you would have taken less than 35mg

1/6th of 200mg

Where are you getting 0.4% from? People consistently report 1-2% by dry weight.

species %age fresh %age dry citation
peyote ? 1-6% (rarely >1%) XXX
pachanoi 0.12% 2% CF
peruvianus 0.05%* 0.82% P&M
peruvianus >0.0005% >0.01%* Ag
pachanoi 0.02%* 0.331% C&M
pachanoi 0.02%* 0.357% T&H
pachanoi 0.006%*-0.14%* 0.1-2.375% H&B

I was going in the medium low end

Most people recently have not been extracting pure mescaline

So, I have prepared one of my bridgesii for ornamentation. There is in fact a great amount of golden sparkling yellow resin in the bottom of a glass dish.

Here is my question though; what can I do to make it easier to scrape off of the surface of the glass? I've been able to get a good portion of the more powdery stuff out of the pan but there remains some seriously sticky resin that scrapes off the pan in more of the "taffy-like" consistency. It's seriously time consuming at this point to get all of this resin off of the pan.

I'm thinking of chilling the pan in the refridgerator to maybe encourage more crumbling of the resin and less tough peeling.

Any ideas?

I got the impression I had underdosed. I read somewhere - I think Erowid - that average yield is 300mg mescaline from 100g of Torch. I will have to up my dose significantly next time and hopefully this will do the trick.

Checking back in.

A tip of one bridgesii that has been growing for a while was saved and then directions in this thread were followed with the addition of removing the skin and spines before brewing. The evaporation of the first brew produced a large amount of indeed, yellowy golden sparkling powder when scraped up. Subsequent evaporations produced more plant colored stickier resin than when scraped up with a razor blade tended to recombine with itself into a dark tar-like consistency.

All of the resin collected was encapsulated and all of it was used, one cap at a time spaced out evenly over about 2 hours. The resulting experience was at first really funny and stimulating. Time slowed and an entirely amazing euphoric body high washed over from toe to the top. Soon after everything began to brighten and everything's colors seemed to be smoothed out into richer tones. Soon later the melting and complete stalling of time began to take over. Time was still and could be observed quite clearly from a new perspective. Greatly textured views of widely varying landscapes began to morph slowly then quickly from their enhanced selves to mind blowingly rearranged meltiness oftening becoming moving, face-like forms. Wave after wave occurred with relative clarity in between waves. Tranquility was maximized and simply laying and watching the clouds change from one place to another was absolutely amazing. Visual enhancement eventually wound down to a minimum background level but full normal visual clarity was not achieved until more than a halfday following the start of it all. The euphoric body sensations were still prevalent while the visual aspects wore down and the mind began to return to a baseline feel.

So powerful! This will be remembered for life!

Perfect! Wonderful! Bridgesii is my favorite!

Good question daemster.. After my experimentation, I'm leaning toward the notion that I put in too much lemon juice making the resin very very hard to scrape up after it completed dried out.

I'm wondering since, like you say, excess vinegar or phosphoric acid might evap out during the simmer, that the final resin after full evaporation would be even more powdery than it all ready is?

I'd say some experimentation needs to be done to know for sure..

Does anyone else think that there seems to be different results with the resin tek between using fresh or dried material? It seems to SWIM that people using fresh material are having a better experience from the resin. Not sure why this is though.

It is recommended that you use fresh thawed cactus.

A tip is to freeze your cactus pieces(if they are dried too!) and thaw them out, and refreeze and thaw out again.

D'oh! A friend started the resin tek without remembering this update, and has been quite frustrated since!

He says he simmered his torch chunks a few times, adding a splash of vinegar to one pull and a splash of lemon juice to another, and filtering through a t-shirt. The result is a brown liquid with some 'snot' in it. He froze, thawed, pulled, and repeated, and is now evapping quite a bit of liquid. Is the presence of 'snot' going to be a big pain come scrape time? Should he try to filter it out?

Also, with the resin tek the advice is 'bite the chunks, and if they're still bitter then keep going'. How bitter is bitter? Do they eventually taste like nothing?

Gratitude for all insight.

dried or fresh SWIMS friend hasnt noticed any difference, and he can't think of any logical reason behind why using dried cacti would produce inferior resin.... Dried is fine.

Touche Guevara dont worry about the snot, it makes it a lot easier to scrape up, SWIMS friend did this updated tek and endeed up with a thin layer of yellowy crystalish tar that was impossible to scrape off the dish, the snot will make it more like a resin consistancy which in swims friends eyes is much easier to handle.

This updated resion tek does produce a very fine tea however, if you can man up and shot back a well reduced amount you wont regret it :)

The chunks really do become tasteless, a very faint bitterness can be noticed but its very faint... they taste quite bland by the end of it.
