rotavapor

Migrated topic.
Definitely a nice way to go for evaporation and reclamation of solvents... I want a lot of different toys in my toy box that I will have to take some time in acquiring.

..this is like an appliance..

Found an older one :)
With some missing parts. Would like to ask some questions about it to the more experienced.

- need to buy tubes to connect the vacuumpump. Does it matter in respect to the used solvents what material it is made of?

- the specs of the pump are:
34l/min/ultimate vacuum 8mbar abs/max contin pressure 1 bar/ permiss temperat +5...+40C
That means that a boiling point will be brought down with 30C? hexaan-> from 69 to 38
What does abs means? +40C ?

- there is no manometer with it or any regulator. Is this necessary?

- there is no clip to secure the evaporator ball flask to the tube of the rotavap. is this neceessary?

Would be great if someone could help me with these questions....

+40C ? maximum ambient operating temperature.

a regulator of some sort is recommended

Thank you so much! I am working hard to get it working... Maybe you want to answer another question for me?

I have a vacuum membrane pump but the woulfe's bottle is missing.
How important is a woulfe's bottle?

Secondly, I want to use a round-bottom flask for evaporation. But I see on pictures that a more conicly form flask is been used. Does it matter?
