I’m new to this never synthesized. This may come as a stupid question. But does all of the Naphtha really go away? I’m concerned on safety I don’t want to be smoking that stuff lol

Fair question - it's recommended to fan-dry your product for this very reason. Some take it further by redissolving the product in a relatively more benign solvent like acetone or ethanol, then allowing that to evaporate to yield goo rather than pretty crystals. This could be considered a bit of a trade off, so there's the further option of recrystallising from heptane, which tends to be less toxic than naphtha.

Experiments with recrystallising from aqueous ethanol have so far been unsuccessful, but lower alcohol percentages remain to be tested systematically. Afaik, mixtures of water with acetone or isopropanol remain unexplored as recrystallisation solvents for DMT.
