Salvaging DMT melted into paper?!

After freeze precipitation with naphta, I poured off the naphta and put the scale at an angle in a box to allow remnants of naphta to seep out of the scale. However, I went to check on it this morning and almost all of the DMT has melted and seeped out of the scale-- I don't understand why.

Anyway, underneath the scale was regular white paper and the DMT has soaked into the paper. My plan now is: cut out the small stripe of paper with DMT melted into it and add it into a mixture of lye and salt, then pull with naphta. Would this work or am I missing something?
Probably I won't trust the resulting DMT for vaping, but I would use it for pharmahuasca, as I am assume trace amounts of 'paper' are no problem to consume.

You could just extract the paper in slightly acidic water 3 times and then base this solution, thereby removing the need to keep the paper into the extraction all together.

So something like: submerge the paper in a bit of vinegar, pull, x3; discard the paper; basify & salt the vinegar; pull with NPS.
