SWIM recently did an alcohol extraction on four 12 inch San Pedro cuts. He ground the catuc to a powder and boiled it in water for a day. Then he washed the powder in Naptha, and did four pulls with Iso. He now has a pyrex full of brown cactus resin. He was wondering, if he wanted to clean that resin to a powder, what would he use? Cold MEK? Acetone? Is the brown gunk-resin mescaline acetate? I'm sorry if this isn't topic worthy, I'm new to the nexus and am just getting the hang of things!

Wow, the 69ron!, thanks for responding, what else is a good polar solvent. He still has the powder. Thank you very much for responding! And once he uses that polar solvent, how would he go about cleaning up the resin even more? I guess what I'm asking is, would the d-limonene tek work on the brown resin from an alcohol extraction?

Considering ron is correct, then a lot of your alks would be in the the powder... I would probably re-extract the powder with the d-limo tek, and do the same for the alcohol resin.... but I have never done this alcohol resin so I dont know for example how well it would mix with a base, if this would interfere in any way with the product being freebased efficiently. I would try it though. Just never throw anything away, and your alks will be retrieved one way or another

it was said already that the cactus alkaloids in their natural form are not very soluble in alcohol, and you also got advised to extract from the original cactus powder.... so try that instead
Thanks endlessness, you're great, SWIM messed up on the d-limonene extract because the d-limonene wouldn't separate from the gunk! Oh well, live and learn, SWIM has more cactus powder in the mail so he'll try again soon!

There are 2 common methods that seem to be regarded as effective. 69Ron's Food-safe Limonene tek, and the Resin Tek. Both are referenced in the wiki and have extensive discussion threads. The threads are interesting reading, and it is a really good idea to read all of the discussion material so you can get a good idea of which method suits you.
