Sarcostemma acidum Voigt
or Sarcostemma viminalis

?

I hear they could be the 'soma' written about in the Vedas (another possibility is amanita but I think the mystery of those above plants is more exciting!)

Every plant could be soma or kikeon, this kind of debates, even if interesting sometimes, will never lead anywhere.
Sarcostemma are endagered sp. for what i known, i doubt you'll find anyone experienced. It has been used in India traditional medicine for skin conditions mainly, i doubt it's something like a entheogen.
