Migrated topic.
"is the body high overwhelming for anyone? weed is for me, its like im underwater, and feel like my body is less there, and slowmotion. i imagine thats what death is like."

Yes. Especially when the trip comes on. As someone said somewhere, it's like drowning and being electrocuted at the same time. But once you go past that point, once the pipe has been taken away and you're laying back and closing your eyes, then you can meditate beyond it, forget your body and flow away. But yes, the body high is very strange. The first time I did DMT, I kept my eyes open and was trying to stay in the world. I felt as though there were waves of liquid electricity flowing under my skin. It was not comfortable, but not threatening either, too weird to be threatening.

so is blasting off uncomfortable for most everyone? and if i try a low dose, will i feel this uncomfortable feeling throughout the experience?

I don't think it's uncomfortable for everyone, some have described it as ecstatic, but that's not my experience, and it may not be yours, from what you describe.

I'm not sure about low doses, not experienced enough. I suspect it has more to do with being able to meditate beyond it than with dosage.

(cue contradicting experience report)

Low doses will actually make you more aware of a hammering heart beat than higher ones, IME. At lower doses, the experience is mostly body load and head fuck - and for a lot of people, the payoff doesn't justify the dysphoria. At higher doses, the initial rush is traumatic to be certain (think sticking a fork in a light socket traumatic), but the trauma can be ecstatic as well if you find yourself able to flow with it - and within a minute your body is gone as if it had never existed.

Honestly, you don't really sound like an ideal candidate. All of the things you mention as negatives about other drugs (accelerated heart rate, over stimulation, fear and anxiety, etc.) will all be intensified by several orders of magnitude over anything you've ever experienced. The entire key to enjoying this experience is acceptance, acceptance, acceptance. If you can't roll with the punches while absolutely certain that you've died and are never returning, then you're going to be in for a LONG 10 minutes and possibly some PTSD afterwards.

Uncomfortably weird, alien, and intense for most everyone sounds better to me than the general 'uncomfortable for most'- which is such a limiting way of explaining it, even though its partly true. The part of it that puts the weirdness notch even higher is the fact that you feel an indescribable amount of loving energy coursing through everything in this unbelievably alien state/place/..whatever.

Although dmt itself is not at all, the uncomfortableness maybe kind of comparable to a child going on his first rollercoaster ride. Sure hes trembling with terror at the thought of such a vertical dive, and is possibly going to pee his pants during it while screaming his lid off..but even so at the end he's still crying with joy at the conclusion of an amazing experience beyond words as he rushes back in line for another round..

Low doses generally feel very euphoric and open perceptions to a much clearer level, in my experience (and from what i've read of others that seems to be congruent with mine), making me much more comfortable with the thought of a large dose.

wise words in Art

Universe and art, very well put and informative. I will definatly keep your words in mind for my next trip.

I'm not a user of much, I've smoked pot a few times in high shcool at parties and was a little paranoid at time thinking there was a universal plot againt me somehow? Acid and shrooms i've taken alot at raves and some clubs when i was younger and enjoy very much even tho the first hour or so of the trip might be rough as i transition into this altered state, i enjoy shrooms much more with few people i trust out in the woods. I find it much more relaxing and i can let go more and see amazing things.

Dmt, while i am fairly new to this, I find is amazing!! very intense at times, you can feel more love than you've ever felt before, but like others have said "acceptance" is the key! There is absolutely nothing bad about it and nothing to be afraid of......i think

It doesn't "move the mind", in the words of Terence Mckenna. You're free to react to this death as you normally would. But that won't happen with a "medium" dose.

Read a lot, there's no better advice. And reading is part of the adventure.

What are your intentions for wanting to meet with DMT?

What WERE your intentions in meeting with other teachers--or did you have no intentions at the time?

The first experience I EVER had, before cannabis, before trying alcohol, was 1/8 of mushrooms. It was intense, amazing, and definitely terrifying at points. Mushrooms felt really intense.

However, compared to the places DMT and Ayahuasca have taken me... mushrooms are a walk in the park. It's like comparing a rocketship to a tricycle. I LOVE mushrooms, they can be extremely powerful, extremely healing, they are to be treated with much respect and I don't mean to undermine this powerful medicine, BUT... in my experiences (numbering in the several hundreds), I find DMT/Ayahuasca that much more powerful, in comparison to mushrooms.

I have been able to explore because of my strong attention to ritual space (clean house, clean mind, caring for my body) and setting strong intentions. I meet with the medicine to learn and heal, so it's essentially a contract, that, whenever I engage the medicine, whatever experiences that come my way are there for a reason. Even if the experiences are scary at the time, they are what I have come for, so the context is completely different.

Know your medicine. Know yourself, your intentions. Prepare extremely well, make sure you are safe, leave no stone unturned. It is possible to have the most amazing experience--but do not take it lightly!

Blessings. :)

I love mushrooms and am to try ayahuasca for the first time. This post beautifully put into words the 'answer' to my pre-experience 'questions.' I can't wait to try, no matter how terrified I may be right now. Thank you for this!

Man, I may be rare, but I absolutely love the blast-off. Somebody said "uncomfortably weird", I'd say "weirdly comfortable". It's pure energy flowing, a bit anxious but the tasty anxiety you can get from a roller coaster ride, the sweet awesome anxiety an astronaut probably gets when the shuttle takes off.

Sometimes in higher doses (>80mg) it can get threatening (as any drug), but seriously, when I land back I have the hugest smile my face can draw.

My bet for asdfasdf is to do several tests. 10mg, 20mg, 40mg and adjust that last one dose to what you find comfortable while intense. 1 hour between doses is OK, but I find 30 minutes enough. That's even what I usually do DMT after some time off it; a little 15mg-20mg ride, and then I'm ready for a full dose.

Ah yes, the loving energy. It warms me just to think of it. I fell in love with my friend's radiator when I smoked spice for the first time, I think simply because it was in the center of my vision...that and the fractal patterns inside of it were amazing
