Self treating depression with tryptamines- thoughts?

Migrated topic.
It might work but in my experience that would have to be a semi regular thing than.

I noticed that the only period I wasn't depressed was when I was dropping acid every free day from work. I'd wake up at 8:00am, drop a tab or two, do my usual morning routines while comming up, and spend the rest of the day tripping. I would be completely down by 8:00pm with a smile on my face, this way all my trips were possitive because I knew I've got my life under control.

The trips became something I was looking forward too, and having something to look forward too is a good way to make a basis for some long term happiness... or atleast the illusion of it... As soon as I stoped, the depressive feelings came back after some time. It seems if you really are depressed and not just occasionally sad that your happiness hugelly depends on your brain chemistry.

To this day I haven't found a better way to self-medicate then tripping. You could probably get away with tripping twice a month and keep your mood in check. This also isn't a magic pill that you take once and are healed forever, but I find semi-regular tripping a way better way to deal with depression then smoking weed all the time, drinking, doing hard drugs or poppin' some shady pills that a doctor perscribed you in hope for you to become a life-long costumer and not to heal you.

I'd also like to chime in on the thema ayahuasca and depression. Some would argue that ayahuasca is more effective for healing depression and for some it might be. Aya has a shorter duration so most people can do it pretty much anytime. All you have to do is tell anyone who might need you "I'm going to be away for a few hours". So you can be upset, drink some aya and feel better afterways. It gives you a superior afterglow because you are not so tired after it, more than anything you are happy you don't feel like you're sick anymore, and there is this harmala thing going on which contributes to the happy and possibly euphoric feeling of the DMT afterglow.

Thanks for your reply AU but I can't really endorse using any drugs in the manner you've outlined. While that approach may work for you or possibly someone who is experiencing a transient 'down' episode, the type of thing that I'm talking about is chronic, and a combination of life circumstance, chemical imbalances either cause of or caused by (eggs and chickens) by severe trauma.

I am predisposed to addiction. I am very concerned with being reliant upon substances. It is true that tryptamines have a depression relieving effect, but in my experience and opinion, if one was to use any as a regular medicine, sub threshold micro dosing is the best bet.

Constant psychedelic use is not a good idea for anyone experiencing any kind of mental duress. In time, they can only confuse things.

Potato, thanks as well. I need tip hear that kind of thing sometimes. I don't think my lack of tripping is a subconscious decision, I am pretty aware of when they well and won't be effective. While I think, talk, read and write about them constantly, and do have quite extensive experience with them, no you're right, I don't need it very often.

N2O might be just as effective as ketamine, in treating severe depressions. But i don't think it is as addictive, or risky. NMDA-antagonists are far more effective than all of the conventional anti-depressants, but most of them are dangerous, addictive or harmfull.
Laughing gas does not realy have any such harmfull effects. Vitamine B depletion becomes an issue only when it's taken regularly, but taking it more than once isn't required for it's anti-depressant effects to work. If you inhale it from a balloon, especially when you make sure that there's already some air inside the balloon prior to filling it with gas, oxygen depletion is not an issue either because in the worst case you'd pass out way before all of the blood becomes saturated with the stuff, and the moment you pass out, you will begin to breathe normally again.

Sorry about not reading the whole thread. However, ingesting DMT, turning yourself to god and, ugh, implementating it into your life, it can definitely cure anything (overrating I know, but depression, definitely).
