What do you define as sentient?

I believe animals and plants come under this category, they begin and end life like we do and grow to mature, get old, die, also like us. I think this is also true of innate objects, rocks, water, earth and the sun, their life spans just overshadow ours somewhat, but they too will die.

On a theological note, if all creation extends from Allah, the Tao, Adonai, God... would not every aspect of creation have divinity?

I know a lot of older cultures extended the definition of sentience to encompass a variety of things. Japan is one such culture that still has a spiritual connection to trees, mountains and animals.

And even science is moving away from the idea of a 3D universe plus time in which little bits of material can somehow manifest consciousness. A great place to look is at the SAND (Science and Non Duality) talks on youtube where a whole host of scientists are working towards consciousness being the basis of all and the manifestation of space/time simply being artificial properties of interpretation.

Science is always looking for better hypothesizes, also science never states something as a set fact.

In the area you mention I did not see anything revolutionary recently. I also fail to see where science puts a '3D universe plus time' in a set model that is accepted as reality, I might have missed that incredible revolution in science?

Don't think I mentioned any revolution, Traveler, just that "a whole host of scientists are working towards consciousness being the basis of all".

But there are many more there to explore.

There is a definite shift in much of this research from matter being primary to consciousness being primary. Obviously many of the older traditions, such as Vedanta/Buddhism/Advaita, have this as the core teaching but interesting that science seems to have been forced in this direction too.
