G'day all
I've recently read online that certain brands of naptha (sold as diggers shellite here in Aus) have almost no ability to carry alkaloids. As this this is readily available and cheap, I was hoping it wouldn't be the case. I would be very appreciative if someone could shed some light on the situation :)

Mmmmmmate ..... It works just fine....

I have been curious about the same thing. In my very limited experience with Shellite, I do not believe it is as effective, or if it as effective at all when compared to Naphtha.

I´m a noob here so don´t take anything I say as literate facts in any way shape or form, I reserve the right to be totally wrong! Although looking at the safety sheet: http://www.recochem.com.au/files/downloads/Shellite.pdf it seams as if it have got the exact same CAS number as most VM&P Naphtha's such as for example Klean Strip: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/bf/bfb9e5da-773d-4116-a279-b23cf9345aaf.pdf CAS is: 64742-89-8

..on the other hand another sheet says: CAS 64742-49-0 so a bit confused?

That one is called (translated to English) chemically pure industrial Benzine/gasoline where I´m at with CAS: 64742-49-0 does indeed work at least for me using Cybs AB salt Tek using MHRB. With that being said not sure one can go only by CAS numbers, especially when a cocktails and mixes you know?

Sorry not much help form this noob here but I know the feeling of uncertainty and it´s not fun especially when on a limited budget. Lighter fluid is crazy expensive where I´m at and now very sad I put down so much into that stuff when the new Industrial benzine was like $6-7/liter. I also got panic a few days ago when yielded nothing from a ACRB run but it turned out it was the quality of the material.

Works perfectly. I don't use any other solvent these days. Xylene is too oily and smells terrible and also seems to pull a sandy colored freebase. Shellite is easy to work with, evaporates quickly and cleanly and holds a lot of alkaloids and produces slightly off white to clear crystals

Works perfectly fine and know of guys who get pretty amazing yields!

Must agree shellite works perfectly fine for me and just about every other Aussie extractor I know ....

Apparently the home hardware brand works a little better as it contains a little toluene did the supercheap auto brand until they pulled it and is no longer available ( spewin )

For future reference maybe keep particulars about brands & where particular solvents are available confined to personal messages.

When a brand gets a reputation for use in anything drug related it spreads rapidly on the internet & one of two things happen.
It dissappears completely, or the formula is changed to deter anyone from using it for our purposes.
