Sick (cold/fever) after DMT..??

Hello,

I've begun to notice some reoccurring thing after some ingestion of dmt in various forms. I got sick twice after doing aya (caapi brew plus freebase dmt) also my friend got a bit sick too twice after smoking changa made of the same dmt I used. My only theory is that its quite harsh for mucous membrane and when its somewhat damaged its more susceptible to infection...but dunno. Is this a coincidence? Has this happened to you? What do you think it is?

I haven't read anything indicating DMT compromises immunity functions. If anything, preliminary research indicates that DMT could play a positive effect:

Another possibility: You know how when some workaholics take a vacation, the first thing that happens to them is that they get real sick? It seems that finally relaxing a notch allows these people to fully experience illness and then heal from it. When they were working like crazy, I think the illness lay hidden, eating them up from the inside.

DMT is not a vacation, but it is a way for you to internally reset, and also fully experience what is inside. Manifesting illness is a step towards healing, maybe a healing that was a long time in coming.

I’ve twice caught a fever soon after taking psychedelics, once after psilocybin and once after vaping DMT. There’s no proof it was related but in my mind there was an association. Overall i think there would've been a few contributing factors, i know both times cold weather and exercise were also involved, all are potential stressors of the immune system.

After DMT I had the same idea that my mucous membrane or lung tissue was perhaps disturbed/exposed so more susceptible to infection, although i've vaped DMT since with no issues. I now make sure my body isn’t overly stressed before or after a dose by keeping warm, eating well, not exercising too hard and getting plenty of rest.

Consider the MAOI impact of both the substances you mentioned. I've had reactions to those types of substances that did not happen otherwise. The MAOI can agitate some people, which could interrupt your planned sleep, and possibly further impact your body defense system with lack of good rest and something brewing in you looking for an opening. (Pure speculation, I'm not a physician, just relating my own experience to your question).

That's a good point. I don't like messing with MAOIs too much, having experienced the aggression that can result after. I've never experienced a negative physical reaction but could see that as possible.
