Hatter
Rising Star
I have recently had to do some re crystallization on some d and found a safe way to do it with no heating naptha on the stove.
I started with 11 grams and a ball jar full of 400 ml of naptha. First I pour the d in the naptha. Then wrap the jar in heating pad and let it all dissolve.
After 15 minutes or so everything gets dissolved. Leaving the the goo and sediment on the bottom. While the naptha is still hot i pour off as much as possible into clean jar.
If you use a tight mouth jar you can use the lip to avoid getting gooey sediment into the final jar. Next I stick the jar back in the heating pad for 5 minutes then pour off what is left into a shot glass, wait for everything to settle then decant the clean naptha off the top and add to the final collection jar.
You can then put the jar with the good naptha in the heating pad and let it get hot if nothing settles you can stick it in the freezer and let it precipitate out. If there is any sediment just pour into a clean jar using the lip to avoid any sediment and repeat the shot glass step of necessary.
This technique lets you avoid heating naptha on the stove and if it cools too much while decanting you can simply put the jar back in the heating pad.
