Smart Drugs: Going from Larry the cable guy to Stephen Hawking

Migrated topic.
got it...thanks. are you just stirring the powder into a glass or did you end up getting a capsule maker? Also, did you notice that 1Fast400's alpha GPC product is listed as 50%, Is that okay?

I havent messed with 1fats400's alpha gpc. I bought mine at a local store as I did not want to wait for it. I take it via capsules the stuff is so nasty tasting I opted for a capule maker which I also use to also make creatine pills which saves me a bundle as I buy that cheaply in bulk powder as well.

is the pircetam powder really that nasty that its tough to drink down if the powder is just mixed in with some water?

i have read one time or another, that these nootropics may make it easier to cut back an addiction or even enhance your will and concentration and determination enough to cut out addictions completely. has anybody heard or experienced this?

socal like I said in my write up it tastes like carnation instant death. It's real nasty if you have a sensitive gag reflex you might cough it up. I hear mixing it with some sunny D juice will reduce most of the nasty taste but for 30 bucks you can get a pill making set up for less than 30.00 which if you think about it a years worth of juice would be more than that.

As far as curbing addiction. I think the mood elevation effect that some have could help but I wont be so bold as to say it will definately assist. You should ask that question on the imminist forums.

thanks for all the info vovin. I just ordered the 800mg piracetam capsules from american nutrition along with some alpa gpc to give it a whirl. If I notice any positive results I will order in bulk and get a pill making machine. I'll let the board know how it goes!

vovin, I'm reading through that board now. Good stuff...thanks! After a cursory glance it appears that some of the posters are really impressed with Pramiracetam. How does this differ from piracetam, do you know?

I havent tried Pramiracetam however from what little I do know it is simply a stronger version of piracetam. However it is hard to come by and therefore not realistic to buy it since piracetam is legal and cheap.

interesting. it also seems like there are quite of few manufacturers of piracetam and some of the posters over there feel that there is a discernible difference in quality between the better brands and the lesser ones. You went with the 1Fast400 correct and are happy with it (other than the drop off from your first couple days)? Also, is piracetam something like creatine that you are supposed to go on for a while and then off, or is it something that once you find the right dosage is best to stay on it continually? I would assume the latter but this is all new to me.

There are several maufacturers. 1 fast400 has been around longer and is the most popular as far as availability so I decided on it.as far as daily use this is one of those things I get contradicting opinions on. Some say if you take it everyday you'll slowly get improved results. Others claim you cannot take it everyday as it burns up choline and the effects diminish after prolonged use. Which one is right? hell I dunno.

Welcome to the world of piracetam wherein half the views are on one side and the other half are on the complete opposite. Ergo why I am having such problems getting my information compiled.

I've been jumping around and looking at various things, and Hydergine has caught my eye. It looks like it can do great things and I don't think it has to be supplemented with choline. Here's the scary downside though, "Pleural and peritoneal fibrosis have been reported with prolonged daily use."

That quote is taken from wikipedia, so I won't write it off as true. Maybe that is a blanket statement about all ergot compounds. I'll do some more research before I make any moves. But if it all looks alright I think I might get some and report back to you guys.

Bulk piracetam powder tastes pretty nasty, but once you get through the first few doses you start to get used to it.

I've had a very similar experience with piracetam. In fact, the first time I took an attack dose of about 2g, I got a very distinct psychedelic alert from it. About 10 minutes of intense free-floating anxiety followed by a lucid, giddy high that lasted about an hour and tapered off. This was the only time I got such an effect from piracetam. As I continued taking it, the effects quickly became much more subtle and harder to perceive. However, piracetam is not really a mood-stabilizer and you shouldn't expect it to be effective for that. I've found that piracetam works very much like a primer for the brain, potentiating any other chemicals you put in there, and any problem-solving activity that you might want to do. You're not going to feel the piracetam while you're sitting on your ass twiddling your thumbs - you are going to notice it if you're engaged in creative activity or abstract problem solving.

On the subject of improving cognitive function/intelligence, there is a free memory training program called Brain Workshop which is based on a 2008 research paper. The program implements the dual n-back task which apparently improves working memory and fluid intelligence (a component of IQ) if it's practiced daily for 20 minutes. I have been using it for a few weeks and I definitely notice a difference. Definitely worth checking out.

have been lucky enough to start getting some good results from my experimentation. I think I am narrowing down some of the factors to get optimum effects from piracetam and choline. My best set up as of now is
1800 mg of piracetam
600 mg of choline ( alpha-gpc)
1 bottle of 5 hour energy drink ( contains lots of various B vitamins)
Creatine fuel ( which contains taurine, creating and L-Glutamine)

Now I suspect the creatine prolly doesnt have allot to do with this but right now I dont want to eliminate anything from my list until I am certain that it is not contributing to the effectiveness of the piracetam. Therefore I am keeping all drugs I take on the list until I can test my regime for several days without them in it and see if there is a diffrence. I think my increase of piracetam from 1200 to 1800 has helped I am beginning to think I wasnt utlizing the alpha gpc completely. I suspect this because after my second dosage on each day I would become extremely tired. The reason being 'I suspect' that I was overloaded with choline since not enough piracetam was being ingested to metabolize all of it. I further speculate that you should give at the very least 8 hours between dosages as it seems if you take them too close together that the choline buildup will in effect have a reverse effect making you drowsy and fog your thoughts.

The current regime is working quite well for me the past 2 days. I will begin removing the creatine in a day or two and see if it is assisting or not then I will remove the b vitamin drink. I also had a cup of coffee this morning which I think very well may have accelerated the effects of the piracetam/choline.

I really feel like I am beginning to make significant progress, finally with this work. While I still havent had the mood elevating effects that I initially had I would say I am a good 75-80% of the original effects. Stay tuned.

Here is my daily log of last week with the lecithin and herbs.

This week I'm taking take lecithin together with herbs everyday of the week.
Let me repost some information about the herbs and the lecithin I take:
The herbs I normally use are: Rhodiola, Ginseng, Hydrocotyle, Calamus, Guarana and Ginkgo Biloba. The first (Rhodiola) in a dose of about 450mg of "dry extract PE 3% rosavin". The others I take from "Maya's focus mix" in a total dose of 450mg where I'm not sure what the percentages are of the different herbs. All herbs are from Maya-Ethnobotanicals.

The Lecithin I use comes from a company called "De tuinen" (the gardens). It's of the type "Lecithin granules 98%, Yellow 1, Topquality" and contains the following ingredients:
* choline-phospholipid -> 23%
* inositol-phospholipid -> 14%
* ethanolamine-phospholipid -> 21%
* other phospholipids -> 16%

This week I also added another herb: ashwagandha.

Day 1:
I took lecithin first thing in the morning, about 5g. After breakfast I took 450mg of Maya's focus mix together with 450mg of Rhodiola and 450mg of Ashwagandha.
The results of this herbal cocktail was that after about one hour I felt relaxed but awesomly tired, probably due to the Ashwagandha. Another hour later the tiredness slowly faded away and was replaced by a deep concentration power. This concentration lasted for another 4 hours or so.

Day 2:
Took the same as day 1. The tiredness was a bit less then yesterday but the rest of the day was about the same. Until the evening that is, I got compulsive thoughts about music and my uncontrolled thoughts reminded me of when I was a kid.

Day 3:
I still took 5g of lecithin but only took half of the herbs. The tiredness was much less and the concentration stayed. In the evening the compulsive thought started to be replaced with serene thoughts again.

Day 4:
Same dose as day 3. I felt energetic and the compulsive thoughts were gone. Deep concentration was there, made big progress at work with the program I'm currently working on.

Day 5:
Exact the same as day 4. I think I found my dose. :D

Day 6:
This day was a special day. The sister of my girlfriend was getting married that day and we had to drive to Germany early in the morning (started driving at about 6:30). I took my normal daily dose like I did the day before and off we went. About a 6 hour drive through rain and heavy wind. I felt energetic and could think very quickly. At about 17:00 tiredness kicked in and I really needed to get some meditation. After an half hour of meditation I took another dose of herbs, the day dose as in the morning but without the lecithin. It took about an hour to kick in but the same energy as in the morning was back and until I went to bed at about midnight I had a great time at the wedding party.

Day 7:
Took no herbs and lecithin at all. Drove back to The Netherlands, the weather was better and although I was a bit tired I still felt clear in the head.

Resume and thought:
* Too much herbs get's my mind into a race condition, not nice at all.
* I found me dose :))).
* What also got my attention is that the herbs seemed to get out me what was already there. The herbs only gave me the willpower (or energy) to use it.
* The herbs really made it easy to think
* Today is the second day I stopped with the herbs and I feel the willpower and energy slowly fade away, thinking becomes harder do to again.

Something to keep in mind. Taking too much choline will cause a drowsiness effect. This was the issue I was suffering from as I tried to get the right mix. If you still have issues with becomming tired try reducing the choline a bit and see if it helps in this. I have begun to realize there is a fine line between the right amount of choline and too much of it. This is a blurry line as you will also get some choline from food you eat.

Choline is a hard drug to get down right as I have discovered. I have had issues with it since I began taking it. If you take your dosages too close together the choline will build up as well. I try to give a good 8 - 10 hours between dosages just for this reason or I just take 1 dosage a day.

I recently ordered a months supply of Poracitam to test it out, and I have to say it works. I am a daily pot smoker normally when I don't smoke I can still feel the fog still in my head, but after taking 800 mg of I felt better than sober, it felt great. I have also noticed that I don't get the urge to smoke as much as I normally do.

I found I have an extremely low tolerance. I took 1200mg and feel asleep in 15 minutes. I think 800mg is more than enough for a bi-daily dose for me. Thank you vovin, for sharing this with us, it has really helped me

Thats a good thing to remember. Luckily I only take my dose of lecithin first thing in the morning after which I feel more awake. I think my tiredness comes from the Ashwagandha. The same 'tiredness first, then more energy' happened to me when I took XTC or Ephedrine in the past (haven't taken one of these in many years).

The largest website selling piracetam has removed all of the piracetam products. Some believe that the feds are applying pressure to them to stem the flow of nootropics. http://www.bulknutrition.com/ has stopped selling piracetam. While piracetam is not illegal to the US govt legal or illegal doesnt matter if it pieeses them off. I do not know for sure what the reason for this but the rumors are flying. If your planning on using piracetam I reccomend you stock up now. I see it's still available on amazon.com so far.

Again this could just be paranoia there's really no way to tell at this point.
