so i was thinking of making a herbal smoking blend. one of my main ingredients was gonna be caapi, for the thh content. i looked online and most say that smoking caapi is pleasurable. but then i though, the harmalas would have to be in salt form in the plant, and a lighter would not be able to vaporize the harmala salts, they would have to be freebase. so smoking caapi wouldnt work.

second, my question is, i want to get a smokable extract of caapi for the thh. i dont care for the harmine, but what i want is to be able to have a smokable thh form.

if i soaked red caapi vine (the one with the most thh), in ethanol. and added a few drops of ammonia to the soak. then left it for a week, and then filtered and evaporated onto new caapi leaf. would i have a freebase resin?

Caapi leaves are active when smoked and are relatively pleasurable.

If you want to do the extraction then honestly I'd follow the gibran tek. It's straightforward and damn near guaranteed to leave you with a clean product. Then just dissolve the harmals into a suitable solvent. IPA works if heated, but it's not great.

are there any harmala salts that would vaporize with the heat of a standard lighter? i swear harmalas have to be freebased to smoke. or possibly when you smoke caapi, your not getting the harmine and harmaline, but instead your getting thh.
maybe thh salts have a lower vaporization point, because ive tried vaporizing harmala salts from rue(which contains little or no THH) and got no vapor, while freebase did melt. so maybe the reason not everybody gets effects from smoking caapi is that the caapi there smoking doesnt have lots of thh, and the ones that do get effects, have caapi with enough thh to vaporize.

Salt crystal often have much higher vaporization points than natural salts distributed in a plant.

Also you probably extracted the HCL salt via manske would be my guess...
HCL salts most likely aren't the salt form harmalas are found in in nature.

My advice would be to try it with plain leaves first. many people make CHANGA by simply
dissolving DMT onto straight cappi leaves.

That's not correct. According to the same logic, smoking tobacco would not work. The fact alkaloids in plant leaf are in a protonated form does not mean they cannot be vaporized when smoking... nicotine salts are transferred to nicotine in gas phase thanks to the smoking heat, and whether this occurs in more or less % will depend on the particular properties of each alkaloid. It's true that smoking is generally less efficient than vaporizing because part of the alkaloids will be pyrolized, but smoking caapi leaf does work.

I like to make a tea of about 50 grams aya, boil it down to a thick liquid, then add some mullien to the brew in a crockpot. The mullien soaks up the brew and i leave it on low heat to dry. After all of this im left with a perfectly smokable aya extract to which i can enjoy as is or with added extract.

i stand corrected. i did not mean that not all plant salts cant be smoked, i was simply talking about harmalas from my experience with harmala hcl's.
