So for my first ever extraction I "successfully" used Q21Q21's tek (#2) to extract pure white DMT. The Final product was precipitated out of Napatha and looked for all the world like the white, fluffy, crystalline DMT that i have seen in pictures and read descriptions of. I was overjoyed! Finally i'd get to freebase DMT!!! So I bought the "essential vaaapp eclipse" model vaporizer, a mg scale, got a couple friends and got ready to blast into hyperspace. I measured out 40 mg of white fluff and carefully tapped it into the vape tube. When I went to inhale it, it tasted like plastic just as I've heard described. I breathed slowly, held it in for at least ten seconds and saw the smoke as i exhaled. And then i waited...

NOTHING!!! Except a slight headache and the feelings of disappointment and loss. Why didn't this work?? What did i do wrong? And what the hell did i just smoke?

My ingredients were legit- Food Quality Hydrated lime from Ebay, Ace brand vm&p naphtha, 5% acidity white vinegar, filtered water, and Mexican mimosa hostilis pre-powdered bark from sonoran song.

Nexus reviews for sonoran song are all very positive and I find myself at a loss of explanation for what went wrong. What is this white fluffy stuff i have if not DMT? Another random alkaloid found in MHRB perhaps? Please help me all you veterans out there. all I want in life is to do the astral plane and visit the machine elves :'(

Sounds like it is indeed DMT. How long had the finished product been allowed to 'dry' after draining off the naptha? Maybe try chopping it very finely and letting it sit on a dish overnight to ensure that you're getting 40mg of DMT and not an incorrect measurement due to slow-evaporating traces of naptha.

I'm not familiar with that vape, but you may want to try smoking it in a pipe on top of an herb. Roast it slowly so as not to 'burn' the DMT before it vaporizes (I've heard this is where the plastic taste comes from, burning and wasting the spice) and hold your hits for AT LEAST 15 seconds. Try to get the whole dose in 2 or at max 3 hits.

Try a method of smoking that is known to work. you can do the sandwich method, or you can make changa which is pretty hard to mess up. Use an inert herb. I'd avoid cannabis. Something like blue lotus, mint, parsley, mullein or most desirable, caapi leaf. For a 1:1 changa, measure equal parts of the herb and dmt. I use acetone because it evaporates completely, very quickly. You can use other solvents too. A lot of people use everclear (190 proof grain alcohol).
It's really difficult to mess up smoking changa.

The napatha was poured out and the remaining crystals were allowed to dry over a period of six hours on a near-vertical incline. The finished product appeared VERY dry and pure.

I've thought it over and narrowed down the possible culprits for this dud-batch to a few factors:

1) Poor Ingredient quality. Particularly the MHRB

2) Improper method of smoking.

3) Freakish tolerance to DMT (had my buddy try it and it had no affect on him)

My first worry was that I had burned the DMT too hot in the glass chamber, but to me this seems unlikely. The flame cannot directly touch it, and i saw it transform from crystal, to liquid, to vapor as i smoked it. I'm still somewhat suspicious of the Root bark quality, if only because i have no other explanation for why such a good looking product has no potency. But the nexus appears to have good opinion of this company's root bark. SO what is this white fluffy powder is if not DMT!! My despair at this moment is deep

Your answer is #2. Lots of people have trouble getting it right at first, don't worry.

This is a little scary to me, considering I am making an order at the first of the month and had planned on running with the same vendor and the same exact powdered bark due to good things I've read. Please let me know if you figure out the issue, or if you try a different smoking technique and everything happens to turn out well.

Please use your smarts and best judgement in determining if a substance is safe to ingest. Your life and health are precious to you and the world. No insight or revelation is worth compromising yourself for. In my experience, I don't see the possibility of you managing to pull a decent amount of something other than DMT with q21q21 #2, especially something that vapes clean in a VAAAP vial... but be smart and honest with yourself in dealing with your safety.

About your trip (or lack thereof) No worries man... try it again. This time, you may want to go in solo or with just one good friend. If anything, you should at least be in a situation where you can journey inward without interruption, distraction or responsibility to hold you here. I understand that from the perspective that this is all very daunting and possibly intimately personal, but the more you can treat this substance with respect and consideration of its power, the more you handle, use and share it in an adult manner, the easier everything will be for you.

I honeymooned and dosed many folks on the same pipe you are using, and I never would have taken 40mg as a starter dose, nor would I give that much to any inexperienced person. Start with 10 or 20, or start with a little bit in a snapper bowl of smoking herbs or ganja. You have the grace of naivete and the serendipity that surrounds the newcomer on your side, and you dodged a bullet. Take in a little bit and get a taste for the experience before you go balls deep. You may decide that you do not want the full dose at this point in your living.

Your experience is not uncommon, nor is it negative. Sometimes the drug does not take effect for very good reason (especially with new users)... Judgement aside, maybe your set and setting were not appropriate, or maybe your state of mind was not suitable for the journey (no accusations, only you know the truth). Be smart, be calm and know what you are getting yourself into. There is a part of you that knows better, and it has spoken its piece to you. It is your job (if you want it) to listen and follow your heart. I know the hardheads around will say I'm crazy for even hinting at things like fate or divine benevolence (not that I am), but c'est la vie. Just my two cents.

Try it again if you wish. Try it in peace and calm. Start low and learn how you react to this drug... only you can know and this is the way to find out. Release all preconceptions, pay attention, and let go when it is apparent... do this all safely, with clear intention and in the moment when it counts. It will come.

Just a note to all the naysayers... the Eclipse VAAAP is a perfectly fine vaping device which does not expose the DMT to flame or direct heat. It's very, very hard to burn the spice and very easy to vape it well, easier and more certain than a GVG in my experience.
My first mystical experience started at the business end of of a VAAP vial, in all of its ala-prometheus-rising glory. It's a fine tool, no worries there. Doesn't sound like the OP held it for very long though.

You likely have a fine yield, assuming your naptha does indeed evap (you used light not heavy). My guess is you burned it, because you describe it tasting like plastic, which is pretty awful. I've learned through my journeys that it seems the better you vape it the less it tastes, if you burn it its like chewing on a moth ball. However vaped its barely noticeable, far less harsh then cigs or weed. I can say its a pretty sensitive little guy to get to vape, easily melts before it vapes, but if you go too fast you'll burn it.

Also, did you make sure you inhaled into your lungs and not your throat/mouth? As a non-smoker, I can say thats one of the issues I had the first time, make sure you pull deep and hold for a good 15 seconds

just to add....if you have a white fluffy powder that tastes sorta like plastic...its dmt...

the quality of the bark wont make the dmt 'bad'...it will just give you a bad yield

try holding your hit in longer...i seriously doubt there is anything wrong with your spice

just wanted to add too. if you do a sodium carb wash then sometimes the crystals are HUGE! and you get a 3% yeild, but it is the sodium carb that is in it. so it needs an extra step to clean out the sodium carb. otherwise you arent smoalking pure DMT.

I tried vaping the stuff again in my room the next night, again to no avail. So I temporarily set aside my DMT experiments in favor of other endeavors.. I plan to try using Q21Q21's tek again soon, this next time using Brazilian Mimosa instead of mexican, and maybe using the sandwich method instead of vaping it. Results will be posted here within the month..

Man that is so sad and discouraging to hear. I'm truly sorry that your labor of love hasn't worked out for you so far. I do believe it will, I'm sure you'll get it right. I'm about to try my first extract as well and got it from the same place as you, but I've also only heard good things about them. Maybe try a machine style device? Maybe try making it into Changa before just abandoning it? Either of those "may" answer some questions. Best of luck, and please let us know if you have any progress.

Also double check you diet.
There are somethings, like Red Bull or ginseng that absolutely inhibit my ability to go on a journey. They like block it completely. If you are taking an energy drink daily even, that could block it.
