solvent questions !

Hi guys,

I came to conclusion by reading alot of posts, that in MHRB ( A/B or STB extraction ) mostly solvents like toluene, xylene, heptane are used. Where would one find these solvents in pure form (more or less) commercially . Any european brand or products containing these solvents ??!

Where SWIM's coming from, P. Ether is easily obtainable(quite pure 90 % and more ) .Its not so cheap, but at least SWIM's sure that has no residual stuff inside. But SWIM has an impression that P. Ether and its emulsions are not so effective with the pulls and is very lightweight?! Can pls someone tell me roughly why these other, heavier, solvents are preferred and where should one look for... ?

thanks in advance

I thought naphtha was the most popular...
I here xylene pulls more (other alkaloids too) but I don't know. the disadvantage with xylene though is freeze precipitation won't work, so you'd have to salt out your product.
with naphtha I've never gotten emulsions, I like it and prefer it to using for example limonene. I've never worked with any other solvents so I'm afraid I'm not much help.

Hmm, maybe my conclussions are all wrong, ive never used these other solvents too.About the emmulsions with Naptha, you are actually right. There is some foaming happening but its coming clear very quickly.

Thank you Enoon !

EDIT : Mods, im sorry if im posting this in the wrong section, ill get better :)
