something goes wrong;/ (picture) update

Hello.

Yesterday (rather today all night) we try with friend prepare DMT from mhrb.

But something goes wrong;/ we have no idea what.

Our tec is

1 - we blend root bark ( 0.5kg) for powder
2 - boil it (90-100C) in distilled water pH=5 for 2 hour and non stop mix soup
3 - drain off and collected liquid in other pot
4 - boil next 3 time in fresh water for something about 20min
5 - all liquid we filtered out again by the shirt 4 times
6 - now we have something about 3L soap
6 - after cooling, filtered vegetable fat precipitates from soap
7 - soap looks like coffie. clear and dark.
8 - reduce by warming to the 0.7 L
8 - we add to soap a little amount NaOH.
9 - Soap changed from "coffie" to thinkg in attached picture. (black thing appeared after some hour when taking pic.)

10 - continue adding NaOH until we reach pH 14
11 - Heat heptane 70-80C and add to soap, mixed.
12 - After 10 minutes we separate the heptane and pour heptane into the freezing glass.
13- 8H Hours later nothing, completely nothing crystallize in.

Where we make mistake?

After 2 extraction with heptane i check pH one more time and its be 8..
Is it possible that the pH of 5 is not enough in step 2 ?

If i screw up something is there chance to fix it up?

Can i use demineralized water instead destilled?

Do You have any tec without naphta?
i have only Heptane and NaoH

hopefully someone can help you fix this. dont throw anything away.
mhrb contains little fat so no need to defat.
read cybs tek. mhrb is easy to work with. start off with small extractions until you get the hang of it.

im pretty sure you can use ronsonol lighter fluid instead of naptha

Use Heptane instead of Naphtha....it's actually better. :thumb_up:

Do 50g bark first, so you don't waste any, until you get better at extracting.

Yes...even tap water is fine.

If anyone told you to use this Tek , don't take this advise again , because there obviously trying to make a name with the Tek rather then helping ....
Take Cybs advice and follow his Tek , its the bees knees also give ACRB a try often its higher yielding then MHRB :thumb_up:

I think he's confused the word Soap with Soup which is why it's misconstrued.

To the OP. There really isn't a need to boil your material at all, nor all the pouring off and cloth filtration steps. You're elongating the process beyond what it needs to be. I agree with the others start with 50-100g of material. 500g is beyond manageable and wasteful for a first time extractor.

You only need to place your solutions (acid/base) into a water bath at around 50 degrees celcius for 2-3 hours each step and mix around periodically. You can use a single 1 Lt bottle for the entire extraction of 50g and a separate dish for crystallization. You'll need a second bottle if you want to do a mini A/B cleanup.

I personally just acidify my powdered root bark before I go to bed, mixing it around a few times. Put it in a quick heat bath in the morning and proceed to base and pull. Half of the work gets done while you're asleep. This way you only spend 4 hours of your day extracting spice.
