SPICE VS. SALVIA

Migrated topic.
On the boxing match, i find dmt more incredible, but i feel salvia has a much more sobering experience... DMT experiences leave me giddy and loopy whereas salvia brings me down to a baseline of calm.

Psychologically speaking i think salvia would have more applications in a clinical setting, for me it's like primal scream therapy or going back into the womb... very psychologically insular where i am left as pure consciousness with a reinforced concept of the self as a spirit 'dressed in memories and experiences'.

DMT sort of eliminates the concept or necessity of self altogether, lifts the veil in a sense making those same 'memories and experiencs' completely irrelevant, like a mere shadow cast from something much more real, more larger, very liberating and joyful, unlike salvia in which the veil wraps around me and i come out of the experience feeling 'trapped' in a body/life/existence.

They work in differnt ways but both of them give me a reassuring feeling overall in terms of spiritual comfort... they both put me in touch with something other than the daily repetitive motions of life.

I don't know why people choose to smoke the dried leaves. While potent, it’s such an inferior experience to what can be had by using a quid of freshly picked leaves...
I do, its easier...
Plus, most people do not have the patience or focus to deal with a giant mouth full of strongly bitter tasting leaves that then causes a flood of saliva that fills your mouth to overflowing, this is not a desirable entry point for a lot of people. I mean, you've got to chew on & hold that giant pile of fibers (15-to-30 large leaves!) in your mouth for a good 30-45 minutes for the full effects!

BTW, I 100% agree with you that Quiding with Salvia gives a totally different & much more desierable effect than smoking the dried leaves does!!
Quiding seems like the "correct" way to consume Salvia, for me anyway.

I've always compared smoked Salvia to being strapped to the hood of a truck, while speeding through a dark, psychedelic forest in the cold & rain!!
The branches & leaves are coming at you way too fast to make any sense of it & they are smacking & poking at you with no consent or control to be found!!

Interesting & something that one does not forget very soon.
But desirable? No, at least not for me...

The other negative effect that I used to get from smoked Salvia but not a quid, is the amnesia & forgetting that you have just taken a drug that put you in this state of mind.
Most times when I've smoked a full-on dose of dried Salvia leaves, I reach a point where I don't know who I am, or where I am, or how I got there, or when I got there etc... Then comes the panic!

The last time I smoked Salvia ( around 2 yrs ago I think) I became "trapped" between 2 full-on realities!!
On the one side, I was reliving a totally enveloping & realistic, everyday life experience from my childhood.
On the other side, was a recent memory of my life as it is now!!
I was seeing/feeling/smelling/thinking/touching/living, both of them in detail, simultaneously but from a third position, outside of both the old & now realities!!
This was very unsettling at first & eventually became terrifying because both of these "realities" had a past, present & future that I could remember in detail! All of the plans & memories, promises, appointments & other responsibilities I had to deal with in both of them, where all there.
I had no idea how to figure out which one was the "correct" one to return to!!
Or for that matter, if either of them was the "correct" one!!
After all, I also could not remember taking any drug to put me in this place, outside of time. And who was I, where am I, & whats this "I" anyway etc...

When I get into a tense situation on most psychedelic chems, I am able to remind myself that "this is a temporary effect of the substance I put into my body & if I just sit back & observe it, rather than trying to change it or make it stop, it will eventually run its course & change by itself".
Then I am able to watch the effects, rather than being caught up in them!
With smoked Salvia, I don't have that ability because I rarely remember that I'm just experiencing the effects of the Salvia that I smoked!! Much less remember who I am...

Then there is the physical, cold-sweaty feeling.

No thanks!

Using a quid instead, makes for almost the opposite kind of effects! Mellow, slow & beautiful!!

have any of my family heard of Daniel Siebert or sagewisdom.org? while the man is certainly not going to win any congeniality contest (getting anything more than a one sentence response to a query....good luck), he does seem to know his shtuff concerning the plant. that being said, most of his sales via his website are dried leaves or something he calls "sage goddess emerald essence" tincture. any Swimmer tried this?
If I remember correctly (& I may not...), Daniel was the first to identify & isolate the active chems from the Salvia Divinorum leaf, Salvinorin A&B.
Before then, they knew Salvia Div. was active, but didn't understand how/why because it did not consist of the normal psychedelic compounds like the Tryptamine in DMT etc...
He was also one of the bigger pioneers & proponents of vaporizing (smoking) Salvia & is one of the people responsible for Salvia extracts becoming somewhat more available & therefor more popular among "heads" in the last 3-to-5 years.

That being said, His on-line Salvia store is waaaaay over priced and there is nothing out of the ordinary about the products he sells!! Unless you consider buying things from semi-famous people to be worth more money...
I've tried his plain leaf, his "extra-strength" extract & the "Emerald Essence" tincture.
Nothing to write home about. Or to re-order, as the case may be!

His leaf & extracts are just that, leaf & extracts. Just like every other leaf & extract you can get online for 1/2 the price.
As far as the "Sage Goddess Emerald Essence" tincture is concerned, it was one of the weakest & worst tasting tinctures I tried!! At the same time, it was one of the most expensive too!!
I only speak from experience here, around a year & a 1/2 ago I tried every tincture I could find online (except Ebay), there where around 10 of them, ranging in prices from cheap to expensive.
Most were complete crap & a total waste of money & time!!!
There was only one that stuck out from the crowd & I reordered more of. Unfortunately, that one is no longer sold to the USA.
(If you are not in the USA, PM me if you'd like a link to this "Elixir"...)

Other than that one commercial tincture (or Elixir, as it were) only home made tincture's have ever been worth the pain in the mouth that results from taking enough to get full-on effects!!
Making a DIY tincture is really quite easy & can be made much stronger than anything you can buy online!!

...just my 2 cents,

Unlike alot of people I've talked to about salvia, I don't mind having my reality shatterred in the blink of an eye. It can be disorienting at times, but only because so many complex things are happening at once. I don't find it to be scary, or really anything at all. It's just not warm and happy like alot of entheogens. Salvia's world is a grey world to me.

I did introduce a friend to salvia once. He was an experienced mushroom user, but he was not ready not matter how much I told him and prepared him for it. He didn't know that the veils of reality could be torn down so fast. After his trip was over I asked him what his experience was, and only reply he has ever come up with for it is, "I don't know."

SWIM would love to grow Salvia, but it'S illegal in the country he lives, and his window points directly towards a police station. :?

Id eat my hat if you can show me a UK officer who can id a salvia plant in a window.

I know that it's quite unlikely, but it would feed my already pretty high paranoia

Whatever, thank you all for your long posts, they've been very interesting as always.

www.salviasource.org is having a "buy 1 get 1 free" sale. SWIM just bought a 15" Salvia plant for $40 and is having TWO of these beauties shipped (free shipping!)....

can't wait to have these fine additions to his home...gonna go buy a lovely pot for them today :)

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!

well you know something interesting Master of plants...SWIM tried mixing 20x salvia with freebase dmt..and you know WHAT!?

the salvia totally won...it was able to contain the dmt and USE IT! the salvia was like a box that contained the dmt...She was experiencing dmt through SWIM..by combining them both..you allow mother salvia to experience an altered state...it was quite something...

You cannot compare S. divinorum with N, N - dimethyltryptamine. That´s impossible.
I'm not trying to be a dick here but have you, Master of plants, experienced DMT or Salvia yourself, even one time?
Not being facetious, I would actually like to know.

I no longer have the balls to try combining 2 of the heaviest mind-bending chems available, would have jumped at the chance when I was younger!!
More power to you!!
I too have read that combining DMT & Salvia is very synergistic, like they accent each other or something.
Trading some of DMT's warmth & love for some of Salvia's memory retrieval & more earth-like visions.?.?
Once again, only what I've read!!

I'd be more interested in combining a nice sized Quid, with a few tokes of DMT during the peak of the oral-Salvia experience, to stay out of the way of the smoked-Salvia-steam-train.

I enjoyed Salvia quids & tinctures more often, before doing my first DMT extraction, Salvia was the first entheogen I experienced that really brought me to the edge of what I thought I knew & felt, and made me question it all!!
BTW, 20 years before I met Salvia, when I was in my 20s, my pals & I used to take loads of LSD & Mushrooms (8-10 hits at a time, & it was real LSD)!!
I'd get waaaay out there, but I knew it was the LSD's effect, just warping my regular senses.
Salvia & DMT seem to go a little deeper than that.
In very different ways though!

I've also had a number of wonderful & beautiful experiences with smoked Salvia, as well as Quids & Tinctures, but there were a lot more just plain out of control, blank, empty experiences that I just had to hold on (to nothing) to get through!!
DMT is not just more gentile but has a loving energy behind it.
It was everything Smoked Salvia was missing to me.

I have not smoked Salvia since taking DMT, I have taken tincture once or twice though.

alright Jorkest! NOW you have me completely intrigued!!! that combination sounds absolutely mind-bending....any way i could implore you to write a tiny blurb on your experience with that combo?? how much salvia did you mix with how much spice?

wowie wowie wow!....am currently reading the latest Zoe Seven book "Back from the Void" in which he ultimately uses salvia and ayahuasca together and has a major revelation about the synergy of combining certain entheogens. the author seems to think that aya and salvia have been trying to get together for a long time....personally, that combo has had SWIM a little daunted, but hearing just your little bit of info Jorkest....i couldn't be more curious!!

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!

That is a wicked question! Glad You are asking, warrensaged. My sister did salvia and I did dmt about 10,000 times. Recently preparing for blast off. And of course I do a lot of reading, too.

Hm, I read about salvia and everything I remember it contains dmt.

SWIM cant remember the dose of either..just kinda what he felt was right..and its interesting because right after trying this combo..SWIM found those zoe7 books..he read both of them..and they gave him an interesting new perspective to look through..

but from the experience..the first time..it was like just the struggle between salvia and dmt..and then the salvia took over fairly quickly..and was holding onto the dmt..it was like she could direct its energy..and what SWIM perceived was this grid(salvia) containing or separating the dmt from itself..in all these little boxes everywhere..her edges would wobble a bit..but the dmt was not able to break through

Okay. I don't mean to sound like a dick here either... but kid, if you are a day over 14, I'm Timothy Leary's cryogenically frozen left nut.

There isn't a one of your 10,000+ one liner posts all over this message board that doesn't make you sound like a dipshit.

Thank You for saying that!

And No, there is absolutely no DMT in Salvia Divinorum!!!

DMT is a Tryptamine, Salvia is a kappa-opioid receptor agonist. They work in completely different parts of the brain.
I have actually done some reading & experimenting with both & I have never once seen that written anywhere or heard of anyone making that claim!

Please do not spread false info, it breeds dipshits!!
