Hey all,

SWIM has been taking SSRIs for the last few months..
Zoloft (Sertraline) - Sertraline - Wikipedia

There are a few reasons for this..
- SWIM has moderate/severe anxiety. (Buses, malls, friends, etc)
- SWIM might have been mildly depressed before. (Subtle changes may have been contributed by summer)

SWIM has been reading quite a bit about MAOs/MAOIs.
There is a lot of mixed information it seems.
Obviously SWIM would love to try aya and good changa..

So my questions..

1 - Is the combination of this SSRI dangerous when combining with MAOIs? (SWIM has taken MDMA recently with no adverse effects)
2 - SWIM would be willing to give up the SSRIs. (Would love to!) Does anyone have the answer for SWIMs anxiety)

SWIM would be willing to do anything it takes within reason.

Thanks!

1: SSRI and MAOI in combination, can be deadly.

I don't think you should take MDMA, while you have a depression. You know?

Agreed. You don't want to be playing around with your serotonin at precisely the time when you're trying to fix it.

And SSRI+MDMA is risky, though not as bad as MAOI+MDMA.

No one here can tell you to quit your medication, that would be completely irresponsible. There is no easy answer to anxiety. Do you do sports? Yoga? Do you eat well? Sleep 8 hours? Start there, get the basics down.

SSRI + MAOI is FATAL!

That being said, IF you are interested in discontinuing your medication, definitely talk with your doctor and follow his advice (not mine  ). Different SSRIs do take different amounts of time to clear the body, so make absolutely sure there is no risk of crossing meds.

Some people experience profound healing with Ayahuasca. I have been working with Aya regularly for almost three years, and changa almost a year, to keep an otherwise crippling depression/anxiety bagged. Microdoses are also extremely helpful.

I used to cry myself to sleep and not be able to get out of my car before work... now I am so free, and so grateful for this freedom. Side effects include deeper involvement in the present and mystifying spiritual journeys.

Cutting processed and highly preserved foods out of my diet also worked wonders for my mind, combined with proper sleep and lots of exercise.

There is lots of information here... my advice is to keep researching, as much as you can! Wishing you peace! :)
