standard extracion

hello all,

the trees i have in quisition are acacia, i will be extracting from the leaves and branches of the plant "acacia baileyana".

now according to wikipedia, they contain tryptamine and β-carbolines, in the leaf, as well as Tetrahydroharman..

what would be the optimum route to go about extracting these alkaloids (to be used as an maoi)?

my idea would be a normal a/b extraction,.. but the predicament is, should i use lye? and again, what should i pull with as a non polar liquid..? (i do not have ability to get to orange oil right now, please suggest a hardware-dpt liquid, my idea would be toluene as it is wider range, not as accute as naphtha..?)

i am not worried about "purity" as it is not a dmt extraction, but that of b-carbolines and harmines.. (and a lil tryptamine)

please help me out here, give me a fact sheet on these three alkaloids if available.. thank you

id like to add, my real question is which np is beat to pull harmines as well as tryptamines ? (their might be dmt in others near by, like belandierI), i would like to know what i can pull these with (apparently on wiki:Acacia berlandieri = DMT, amphetamines, mezcaline, nicotine, thought i would only like to try, not expecting psy-amphetamines.. lol)

Swim thinks post a/b (might be a safer bet using sodium carbonate) extraction with different solvents one after another ie toluene after shellite would yield all that can be had, but the real question is how is swiy planning to separate them all? Column chromotography or exploiting their solubilities or something else? Would be very interesting to be able to yield a MAOI from one acacia and DMT from another =p

no column seperation needed, as swim isnt trying to seperate everything..

basically just need a way know for sure of an extraction of the b carbolines from 1 plant, which has no dmt, and the dmt cfrom another plant that has no b carboline, (both acacia)..

thankz i think topluene might work..

and does salting out (as in the procedure for mesc) also work in this case? ty
