I am about to do my first ever extraction. I am doing Q2121 tek and I have only 2 questions that need clarifying.

1. How long does it take to achieve consistency 2. The tek says let it dry until it looks like the top of an apple pie. How long does it take to let it dry naturally without using an oven.

2. Do I need to do en evap step or can I just take the naphtha and put it directly into the freezer?

I can't find anything about apple pie in the tek. I found this:

"Note: The mix may form a "dark crust" on the top that is fine. It does not affect the yield at all."

You don't need to dry it out. You just do the acid step. Let it sit for 45 min - hour or longer if you wish. It should be soupy. Then achieve a good consistency by adding your lime a bit at a time, stirring it in completely. I find that just between mushy and crumbly is good. Too mushy and you'll lose a lot of naptha, too dry and crumbly makes it a pain to pour your solvent off.

Ok.... I just added the lime (my shoulder is tired from sitrring :p) When should I do my first pull? it says if you wait 6-8 hours then you'll get 30-60% of the DMT but if you wait a day you'll get 80-90% of the DMT? If I do wait a day how do I store my mix?

I had to guess on most of this! I am really disappointed with the lack of help from this forum! 70 views and only one person ( mister_niles ) offered any help? That is pretty crappy of people. I do appreciate your help mister_niles :) any one willing to help someone out is awesome. I wish more people would at least try to help

To answer your second #2 question, I've never evaporated before freeze precipitating and I've been more than satisfied with my yields; However, everyone's situation is different so you may be required to. Just follow a tek and see what happens.

You don't need to wait very long once you put your naptha in. I usually leave the naptha in for 10 or 15 minutes and i stir the mix around just a little bit every few minutes during that time. I do 2 or 3 pulls the first day and then leave the last one in over night and put that one in the freezer the next day. Then I add some more lime and do a pull a day until dmt stops coming out or until I have over 1.70%

No problem mister_niles, you're awesome. I have one pull in the freezer now so I'll wait til tomarrow to do my second pull. Should I put saran wrap over my mhrb mix right now or just let it sit out in the open until tomarrow?

When I leave my pulls in over night I always put plastic wrap over it. I do it just to keep the smell down, so my wife won't complain. Keeps dust out too. If you have a well ventilated space, you might want to try putting a stocking or t-shirt over it instead of plastic wrap, that way, you'll get a little bit of evaporation, further concentrating your pull. Just don't leave it for more than over night or it might all evaporate.

One problem I've noticed with q21q21 is one that arises after a couple of days. Sometimes some water (I guess) starts to separate and you get this muddy liquid that could contaminate your solvent when you pour it into your precip container unless you are really careful. I think that adding more base on the 2nd day. Not sure yet, but it seems to be working.

Ok after the first 3 pulls I'm only sittin around 85mg of spice... Is this good, bad, or average. I feel it should be more than that but this is my first time. I did use more lime than the tek says so maybe that had something to do with it. I will be doing one more pull from the mix in 2 days to try and get all the spice out.

Provide some details. How much mHRB did you start with? If you used 100 grams and you've only retrieved 85mg, you have probably extracted less than 10%. You might need to add more base. Your naptha might have to be evapped a little before freeze precipitation. How much naptha per pull?

Small crystals are the norm. The big crystals you may have seen pictures of, have been grown using other techniques.

I started with 100g mhrb and I already used more base than the tek said (it called for 75g and I used at least 90-100g) because the consistency was too moist. How long do you recommend evapping for before going to the freezer? And how should I go about it, should I just set the pan near a window for X amount of time, or should I use a fan etc.?
